Subject: New transfer comparison tool

2010-02-07 17:11:48
Multiskill and talent are two things which dont allow comparison with HT.

So what's the utility of such tool?
If you can't compare two players because multiskill in sokker make the evaluations very relative, what's the purpose of this tool?
I think that it may mislead many users.. and make the market even worse than now.

more information never makes anything worse.
and you don't have to use it if you don't like it. it's up to you.
2010-02-07 17:16:39
I don't use, of course.
And the equation "more information = better things" is not necessarily true.

Even though I don't completely agree with you I have to say that's an interesting point of view I've never thought of!

But it's quite logical! If a manager uses this tool and sees that the average price is 1 million, he wanna pay less than that to make a bargain. If all managers are doing this the average prices decreases more and more.

Well, it's highly theoretical, but pretty interesting imo! :-)

But due to the fact that you cannot see the talent and that managers have different preferences about the skill distribution of players I don't think it would lead to a transfer market crash.

I said it differently and what I said is true.

It does give indications a range of prices for various players. Due to multiskill and talentfactor you just wont have a tool giving you a 100 % exact info. One still has to use ones brain, its not there to replace it.

Apart from the 2 things I mentioned there is also things like NT or U21 status who have an impact. So managers still have to think about what they do.

But seriously al the managers from lets say divsion III upwards dont really need such tool and it will hardly change prices. But it will be a help for beginners mostly, who we have many give up on sk due to a too hard to understand market.

You propably have 2nd thoughts about this tool because you believe it will harm you and not sokker:)

@Ganzengeile : Yes 2nd point being very true indeed.

Thanks ganze, you catch my point of view. ;)

It can be true before the young school revolution, but now talent is more difficult to calculate, and won't be so important as the past.
How many players we trained that were very talented when 17-18yo, and then dropped to normality when older or higher in skill?

So the impact of talent won't be the same as in the past.

@VivaChe: I don't know if you're right, for sure you're modest ;)

I disagree, the talent proof is only moved more from YS to 1st team training.

I understand.
I appreciate very much your work, is very interesting, some years ago I would had make something like your app.
This to explain that "theorically" is very useful.. but..

exactly.

Here I see the matter. The market is hardly to understand because the multiskill nature of players.
Some unexperienced users may mislead in evaluation of some players because they doesn't get the difference (for example, between 2 strikers, one with defender and the other without) or may use too large interval searching for evaluation..

In other words, the base (beginners) makes 70% of all transactions in sokker market.
If all of them search for the Bargain.. you can imagine.

You propably have 2nd thoughts about this tool because you believe it will harm you and not sokker:)

Yes, I admit :) The market is already dropped down in last months..
2010-02-07 17:37:37
Normal drop if you ask me. A bit earlier than last season, but 2 seasons ago was also like this. But with only 10 000 players in database yet, you can trust it has hardly any impact on market yet.

And if there were a reall issue with this tool cardaso would close down the project anyway.

Ok mate, I express my point of view, I think I said all I would say. :)
2010-02-07 17:42:53
Sokker market is experiencing deflation never seen neither during "sale" period.
I think this tool would be the end of the commerce in sokker.

If you want higher prices you need to increase the demand.
Roobing users not knowing "fair value" can't be the solution ;-)
Sokker lost more than 10% of the users in a few month, Germany 20% in 1 year. That's the problem.

2010-02-07 17:45:24
Sure I understand your concerns too, but don't think it will happen. I had similar concerns too before giving it some more deep thinking.
2010-02-07 17:46:10
If you want higher prices you need to increase the demand.

Yes, it's true.
And this is the way of young school revolution, more than the end of "certified talent".

Actually the offer is really too much for the demand.

maybe i would appreciate this tool so users who bought for 6M the same (skilled) player as i sold few weeks ago for 1.5M, could see how much robbed they were
