True, but you need to be very fortunate to pull such a player!
And I didn't say an outstanding coach could not deliver a magical player... But IF a player had the potential to become magical...he wouldn't if you only have an outstanding coach... That is what I said.

So in fact, youth is this...

Number of new players each week = random between 1 and 6
Age, weeks and skill level when coming into the school = 100% random
Talent = 100% random
skill distribution when coming OUT of the school = 100% random

progression of the youth player within the school = 100% dependent on your youth coach
Estimation of the youth players skill, when in the academy = 100% dependent on your youth coach

The better your coach, the better his estimation and the better the players progression..
But since there are 6 different random factors, you need to be very lucky to receive the right player on the right age, with the right talent and the best amount of weeks within the youth school concidering his age on the best possible starting level which is good [7]

If all is perfect and you have an unearthly youth coach, he WILL be a superdivine youth player!
If you have an outstanding coach, he probably will be magical at best.

Progression depend mostly, mainly, on player talent. Not coach level.
Estimation is greater when youngs play games, The main factor. ET coach estimation is better, but errors are common even at its level, it’s already not possible to calculate a young’s talent under 20 weeks with accuracy.

Then…

The gain between magical / ET coach is around +1 level ( around 3-4 skills) for (and only for) top talent and 30 weeks+ training. 3 to 4 skills.

That’s not nothing. Ok. But it’s only work for valuable players max talent max weeks. For 16y young’s or valuable young’s under 20 weeks school an ET coach is worthless.

As you said everything is random, and good valuable young’s are rare whatever is your coach level.
Luck is the main factor, skills progression depend mainly on young’s talent (luck again) and the only thing which is predictable is coach wages.

Have to disagree here, progression depends on coach. From rules:

Training
The distribution of individual skills is set for each junior when he comes to your junior team; each individual skill grows proportionally with the overall skill when your junior trains each week. Their talent and the coaches general efficiency determine how fast they develop and whether they will be valuable players after leaving the school. Whether a junior plays or not in a match does not affect his training - he always will get full training.

The rules are ok. Talent is not coach dependent. It’s on the rules too. But players owns talent is far far more important than the coach addition (to talent).

I don’t want to spend times to explain, but most of users who know how it’s work in term of calculation can confirm here that player‘s own talent is the main factor of progression of a younger or a regular player.

Not the main, but indeed an important factor...

i don´t get any single "good" prospect for more than 10 weeks now! i don´t even say a good talent! NO! a payer that looks good the first week he came in to the YS, yesterday 2 tragics ones and 2 hopeless! i am buged?
