Subject: Biggest Stadium

Yeah, I said just from league games alone :)
There is also cup games to add in if you get far enough and didnt win the top league the season before :P

I just used the league games to show it is worth it with those alone :)

I'm fairly happy with my playground. Sokker's most evil. :)

It was full last weekend.

why did you go for roofed benches instead of seats?
2008-06-24 23:08:53
Because I believe, it might bring more spectators. And I'll rather have more, who pay less each, than fewer who pays a tiny bit more. Anyways it's a big investment to build seats instead of benches, and the profit is only marginally higher. The most important thing is the roof itself, which secures maximum attendance. That's where the real extra profit is. :)

This is what the rules state:

Supporters select the cheapest stand from the ones that suit them. However, a spectator is likely to buy a ticket for a stand with a higher cost, if their preferred seat is sold out.

The question is how to interpret that word: Likely.

I see your point:

Less supporters (-)
Higher building costs (-)
Higher income from sales (+)

The question is, is the 1.25€ extra income per seat sold higher than the losses from less supporters and higher building costs?

I think it is, you don't. I guess we'll never know :)
2008-06-24 23:33:25
I guess, you're right. :)
2008-06-24 23:38:32
But you can look at is this way:

The extra profit for seats instead of benches behind the goal is only 20%. So if just a minor part of the spectators stay away because of lack of benches, the profit is quickly gone.

But I'm not too sure myself. Otherwise I would have even more benches relatively to seats. :)

I'm not too sure about the extra building costs though. Does anybody know the difference between building 1000 seats and 1000 benches? And is there a difference between the difference when building the first 1000 seats/benches or the second 1000 seats/benches?

I'm not convinced by the benefit of a roof, especially behind the goals.
It brings in 1.25 € extra per seat. So a stand of 10,000 will give you an extra 12,500 per game. The cost of said stand is a million, so it'll take you 80 sold-out home games to claim back the cost. Thats over 11 seasons.

The benefit of the roof is in my opinion not the higher price on tickets - which is only relevant when you pay for seats versus benches also. It's the extra crowd, who'd otherwise have stayed away due to the weather-factor. And even the slightest clouds keep some at home, while rain keeps a lot from coming by you stadium.
2008-06-25 00:01:40
Anyhow you put it, it's a long term investment for sure though. But I think, it looks cool. And I have money to burn. ;)

I'm going to repeat myself here:

Don't forget the additional income from friendlies (more audience due to the entire roof and high ticket prices).

This is also substantial! I had about 6000 supporters watching friendly matches, now it is ~10.000 against similar teams.

Another very important issue is the weather. Last season I had a sold out stadium (54000 by then) with rain. I bet I would have only sold about 30-35k seats without the roof. Difference in income is then about 100-150k€. I think you should include the possible loss of income due to weather effects in calculating the efficiency of the roof. There is only 1 thing. I do believe it only works when you have an allmost entire or entire roofed stadium.

let's not forget my question:
I'm not too sure about the extra building costs though. Does anybody know the difference between building 1000 seats and 1000 benches? And is there a difference between the difference when building the first 1000 seats/benches or the second 1000 seats/benches?

I'm not quite sure I understand the second part of it...

Don't know it ...

And is there a difference between the difference when building the first 1000 seats/benches or the second 1000 seats/benches?

If I understood you correctly then the rules say: Be aware - the price of seats grows proportionally with the size of stand. It might be cheaper to build two smaller stands than a single bigger one.

This is a really big :)
