I have never seen this before: Flint never went off injured, nor has an injury in a match and was not substituted. Today l discovered he has an injury and is out for 24 days. I understand it was an injury sustained in an under 21 international friendly match. This is a major blow as l can’t sell him train him or play him and he wasn’t even playing for me. It couldn’t have happened at a worse time for me and will damage my prospects for the new season. Can injuries in international friendlies be stopped? I cannot afford to lose valuable assets like this and will stop co-operating with the manager of the u21 team if a big injury like this can occur at any time

Pros of playing for NT: extra training
Cons: possible injuries

Deal with it

Every NT player's owner face the same situation and the same risks and cope with them, and most, sooner or later, find his player injured playing an international match (and in some cases more than once in their NT careers).

Some others decide to avoid their players being called for their NTs, hidding them and not sharing their skills, waivering the advantages and betting the lower injury possibility will overweight those in the long term (yet that does not assure, btw, that they can have similar, worse, or more injuries playing with their club's only).

Of course, also they are some others who see perfectly fine the good things (extra experience gained, higer sell value, renown...), but start complaining and become outrageous when the possible drawback to those advantages (that is, the injury) appears... to his/her own player.

There has to be all kind of managers, I guess. Yet rules are for everybody :)

This is a matter that unfortunately has got an higher perceived risk than the real. Some years ago, when I was Malaysian NT coach I've collect a statistic. Usually I got around 4 injuries during the season (this season I've got 4 injuries too), even counting the light injuries too... If we suppose that I use 13 players per match

4 injuries/16 matches=0.25

0.25/13 players=0.019=1.9%

A really lower risk than the benefits, little amount of bonus training, useful for constrain the skill loss for the age, more experience. On the long time view benefit are more than the risks. I have several U21 players, I prefer to let them play, they grow faster, on the long time I feel a little boost.

I can't understand this attitude, let them play everytime that they can!
