Based on the following figures, what would the perfect stadium look like?

Figures for demand for each ticket type
• Standing 7%
• Terraces 29%
• Benches 38%
• Seats 26%

The controversial part is the following sentence:
"Supporters select the cheapest stand from the ones that suit them. However, a spectator is LIKELY to buy a ticket for a stand with a higher cost, if their preferred seat is sold out."

What does “likely” mean? Are there spectators who would not go to the stadium at all if their category is not available? And how many?

If I assume 10,000 spectators who actually want to sit on benches and I set a difference of 2 Euro between a bench (10 Euro) and a seat (12 Euro):

If all viewers simply switch to the higher category, it's easy: 100,000 Euro in revenue becomes 120,000.

But what if not all of them switch, but only “likely” switch?

80% go for the higher category, 20% go home: 96,000 Euro in revenue. Benches are better.
85% go for the higher category, 15% go home: 102,000 Euro in revenue. Seats are better.

The border lies at 83%. This means that if more than 17% of spectators go home when their category is not available and less than 83% are “likely” to buy another ticket, it is better to build a stadium in which all categories are available.

So the question is: how many spectators go home and don't switch to the higher category? How many are “likely”? Are there any figures on this? I haven't found anything yet.

"The consensus is that seats with a roof are the best option. However, the roof is an investment that should be made later, once the club is financially stable and well-established."

Wich is the perfect build for an stadium? I will read carefully
2025-08-27 15:48:16
Step 1:
"There are certain groups of supporters, some of which will not attend matches if you will not provide them with the best possible conditions in the stadium. For instance, some of them may not come if there are no covered seats for them to view the game in."

This means that the various supporters with different preferences want to have the seats they want: standings, seats, etc. If these are not existing, some of the supporters will not come, right?

Then:
"Match Attendance

Depends on:
-Size of the supporters clubs of both teams
-Fans mood of both clubs
-Match type
-Weather (roofs can help in keeping attendance on raining days)
-Ticket prices.
-Stadium size and stand types.
-Fan preferences on the different types of stands
."

Here too, whether the supporters find the right places influences whether they come or not.

Step 2:
"Not every supporter likes the same type of stand. Some fans prefer seats, others benches, some others prefer terraces and others prefer to stand on the grass. If their favorite place is sold out they are likely to buy ticket for a superior stand but they will refuse to go to an inferior stand."

It doesn't say that fans move up to the next category if there are vacancies, but rather if tickets are sold out. So if the existing places are no longer available, right?

Doesn't all that mean that you should offer as many categories of seats as possible?

I would expect it to be the single one big set of seats under roof along the pitch

Well I know, there ist the theory that only seats with roofs are best, but I noticed something else, while I built my stadium. I have two corners with seats and two corners with benches and there are regularely more percent of spectators on the these benches than on the seats in the other corners, even when the ticket prices of the corner benches are higher than for the corner seats! I would not have expected this, when the only-seat-theorie is true...

Same for the standing terraces, which are also more filled by percent of capacity than the corner seats, also even when standing prices are higher than thes corner seats. Well, I would not cancel my terraces for seats anyway, because I don't want to upset my Ultra Fans ;-)

it´s always gonna be seats with roofs the best option... there is no so much dilema here

On Sunday evening I am starting my reconstruction of 12.000 benches without roof on 12.000 seats under the roof. Any suggestions? It will take 22 days... But as we are in Czech republic, I think it will take 2 seasons... :D
