Subject: Tactic problems and solution

2014-12-21 12:06:22
Charles Hill to All
Many managers reported problems with tactics, all players jumbled up in a completely random manner. This is not a Sokker problem but a Flash problem.

Check this website for a possible solution:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enable-system-flash-player-google-chrome.html

Step by step for Chrome to fix this:

1. Open a new page in Chrome.
2. Write this address in address bar - chrome://plugins/
3. On the right side there is a button called Details. Press the + right next to it. You will see all the details in a list.
4. Scroll down to Adobe Flash Player. Under you will find two boxes with Disable (with blue)
5. Press the first box. You will get Enable(with blue). - Do not touch the second box!!!
6. Select the box with Always allowed.
7. Done!

This is the Adobe link to install Flash:

EDIT: please do not use this topic to post bugs and other Sokker problems, you can post these on the Forum Bugs / Ideas (en)

EDIT 2: Solution thanks to a number of managers in this topic

EDIT 3: If you can't solve the problem, use for example Mozilla Firefox to play Sokker: https://www.mozilla.org/

just a note, if someone do not see the NPAPI plugin in chrome he or she may try to:
1. go to chrome://flags
2. find #enable-npapi there and enable it
3. restart Chrome
4. go to chrome://plugins and pray NPAPI flash is there

AFAIK from September 2015 it wont be possible to use NPAPI plugin even after those workaronds

Then the devs really should find a permanent solution to this. I cannot imagine that it would be too hard to do either.

Why on earth is Google trying so hard to break its browser? First they break it, we find how to fix it, then they break our solution :P

It's not just Sokker, I'm already forced to use a different browser for many sites and even other software that uses a web interface (don't ask me why they do that too, but different topic :P), which eventually will make me switch permanently - I don't appreciate keeping 3 or 4 browsers in my computer...

Adobe flash is there, ready-made, costless to them, and it works 100%. Why do they spend resources re-inventing the wheel (and getting a poor hexagon at best)?

On the contrary, I cannot imagine what the devs could possibly do about this when a company like google can't make a plugin that works :P

(More generally, we are here for the content, not for the sake of browsing. Hence, it is browsers who need to make themselves compatible with actual content in order to be useful. At the end of the day, I'm interested in using Sokker, not in using Chrome, and will do so by any means I need. Just like I switched to Chrome when it was the best way I found to access contents, I'll switch again if it destroys its own ability to do so.)

I assume that NPAPI is out-of-date. Internet technology improved and that API is not adapted to new tech. It is also probably implemented in some old, dirty way, not much scalable or flexible and it probably causes a lot of problems also. I read that it is the source of most of different browser crashes. Moreover, due to its long forgotten and kind of obfuscated code it causes much more human resources usage than one could predict when it comes to developing some NPAPI related plugins.

And I think that the sokker tactic editor could be easily rewritten in HTML5.

I think I was referring to this article.

Well, I can't speak for the rest of the world, but so far 100% of the flash problems I experienced involved Chrome's PPAPI plugin, hence why changing to any browser using the system flash plugin solved the issue...

Internet technology improved

Hard to call it an improvement when stuff that worked stops working :P

concerned that in a while the game engine only generates error plays, improbable things happen, strictly unfortunate not to be rude and leave with a curse

I still got the problem under Windows and Linux, anyone can help me in complete the tactic editor "remake"?
