He scored the 2 goals... but have players that have a super important roles in Montenegro strategy... like Gojko Vidić and Momčilo Borovčanin.

Is not because these players is not the best or the players that do not score the goals that they do not have most of times the most important role to rest of team work.

ps: a pity no one understand portuguese, because i did a long video for brazilian community talking about this final.

Deep analysis: What made Montenegro be competitive on U21 Scenario and what Michele79 did it special in this U21 World Cup?
By Woody

If you want to see the deep analysis about the champion of the other edition: click here.

Note: This text has both a historical part and an analysis on my part, whether you agree or not with what is written here, speak in a respectful way because the idea here is to show how I think it was the way of thinking Michele79 has accordingly with the pieces he had available and the opponents he faced. If you want to translate this text for your community, give a message in private and I will give you the text if you want...

The 1st U21 World Cup edition in the HTML era happened and the 1st champion was a big surprise that even the biggest fan never was to believe it... Montenegro, a community with just 16 users, made history winning a U21 World Cup, probably... the greatest achievement in the history of Sokker Manager was made it days ago... with the italian coach Michele79, the sokker community marveled and amazed to see what size feat could be possible, in a game in which we have communities of less than 20 people like Montenegro, but at the same time we have communities of over 600 users like Poland... but, probably everyone ask... how that was possible? Maybe another feat by the sokker engine? Maybe Michele79 is just lucky? Well... I am here to give a deep analysis about this and show that if you think that Montenegro has just luck to make such a thing, you will need to know more about Sokker Manager.

But first of all, we need to talk about Montenegro... because it is also one of the answers to why such a feat was possible... When Sokker Manager was created in 2004... At that time Montenegro did not exist yet because as we know, its independence only came into being 2 years later in 2006.... so for 2 years, Montenegro was part of the community of present-day Serbia, a community that has way more users for example... after being introduced in the game, Montenegro created a small community like a lot of communities that exist in the game... Today about the total number of users... Montenegro is the 39th smallest community in the game... they have the same number of users like Ireland and less users than communities like Bolivia, Canada, Indonesia and Ukraine... but these countries were not chosen randomly... Did you know that Montenegro has more participation in the U21 World Cup than all these countries combined? Montenegro has 11 participations in the U21 World Cup and these countries together participated 10 times... Ireland that has the same number of users just play it 3 times, same for Canada that in the past even reached a semifinal, Bolivia have more users but never play a U21WC, Indonesia and Ukraine played it 2 times and have more users than Montenegro... So what is Montenegro's secret? Because even having fewer users than those mentioned communities, why were they the ones who had the success? Well... To explain this, we will have to break it down into parts to explain such a great community organization in Sokker Manager.

1 - Youth Schools

Despite Montenegro having 16 users, they just have today 14 active youth schools... The difference in the youth schools in Montenegro is that they didn't close themselves and went looking for knowledge in other places... As it was said earlier right here in this thread by one of the great users of the Montenegro community, former U21 coach Artista told:

''Thx Tsolias, people can always learn from you some interesting facts:)... (p. s. we used your development plan years ago to start developing U21 nt base, so some merits goes to you)...''

As said by Artista, the community learned a lot from the knowledge of a very famous user in the U21 scenario, former U21 World Cup finalist Tsolias, is quite knowledgeable for his in-depth study of Sokker Manager, in areas such as player form, training and especially youth schools... Following these lessons, the Montenegro community saw an immediate growth in the quality and quantity of players who started to leave their youth school. Getting organized season by season and always managing to have a solid base for each cycle change...

2 - Planning to train local players

A U21 team improve is not just about the quality of the youth school, but also about how is prepared these players... It is normal that local users will be able to make a training plan more dedicated to what the coach needs to have good players in your U21 team than users from other countries, as local users want to see their country's success in international competitions... And Montenegro show also this not just during the years, but in this U21 World Cup.

As you can see, 6 players that was used during the U21 World Cup played in local teams, of these 6 players, 4 are still at the same club where the player started his career and the other 2 players they were maintained by another club, but maintained for no small amounts... showing the need for it to be prepared as a player by the local community, and all these 6 players was key players during the U21 World Cup.

3 - Organization in the U21 Team

Different from other small U21 teams, Montenegro learned early the secrets of this game, one of them is the ranking system... Because they know that the best generations are not always going to be, being well placed in the ranking can be the difference of having ease in the WCQ or not... because of that, in the past it was very normal for Montenegro to make hand-picked choices to keep planning thinking about gaining many positions in the rank, this helped Montenegro quickly reach the top 20 of the rank... this mentality was basically created by the 2 coaches who started this giant evolution of Montenegro as a national team... former U21 coaches Del P1er0 and Artista for many years coached Montenegro and make it the country reach such level, with Del P1er0... the team even reach the quarterfinals and almost eliminated Czech Republic in a historic match, for many years Del P1er0 was known as one of best coaches in U21 scenario, getting the nickname ''The God'' from your fans.

In recent years, Montenegro open his Senior and U21 NT to coaches from other countries, in U21... the support came from a side that was known on past in build strong U21 coaches, which is Italy... Even with Italy himself do not win a U21WC for a lot of years ago... Italian support made another community in the past (Belgium), become a U21 powerhouse with a lot of trophies, specially 2 U21 World Cups in a row with former U21 Coaches Pavoniana and Ford Kuga, both from Italy...

Now that we know how Montenegro become a competitive community even with less users than the rest thanks to his organization and looking for knowledge... let's see how its commander, the Italian Michele79, acted during the U21WC...

Montenegro finish this U21WC without a defeat... in 7 matches, they win 6 and draw 1 match, and during the U21WC... coach Michele79 used 4 different formations with certain adjustments depending on which opponent it was... in this case the teams used were:

As we can see it... Montenegro used most of times tactics such a 4-2-2-2, a 4-3-3, a 5-3-2 against Turkey and a thing like a 5-2-3 against Belgium and Russia... during the competition, Montenegro presented a well-balanced team that had a simple game plan, which was the search for spaces and always seeking to create numerical superiority in some region of the field, mainly seeking to create a good width to open more spaces in the lines of opposing defenses, this make Montenegro have one of the best offensive teams in the competition with 11 goals scored and also one of the best defenses with just 3 goals conceded, with just 1 goal conceded in the elimination stage of the U21WC.

But how did Montenegro manage to create this numerical superiority and the use of spaces in the field? In this case, let's do an analysis of the final against Switzerland, which in this case was a game where favoritism was more on the Swiss side because the experienced coach vacarul had already eliminated 2 great powers such as Poland and Czech Republic and Montenegro had a big problem for solve, could not use 2 important defenses such as Kapa and Šaronjić and to make these things be worse, the match was going to be in a Swiss stadium and Switzerland during the U21WC used that as a great ally, using short-measure stadiums to eliminate large spaces for their opponents, including opponents who played looking for play from the sides of the field. such as Poland, Czech Republic... and since Montenegro had a similar game, would be the next victim of the ''Swiss wall'', but different from what was thought, something different happened...

First, we need to know Switzerland and how it presented itself in this U21WC final.

The cowboy prefers to play in a conservative way like the previous match... a very defensive team that play on counter-attack, and in case... Switzerland started with a Diamond 4-4-2, very famous formation by romanian coaches... on the 1st half, this was the tactic used...

In 2nd half, to try to change the result, Switzerland did it changes on the team and also in the formation... the Diamond 4-4-2 now is a 4-3-3, despite the game plan did it not change, now Switzerland try to create a numerical superiority in the front with 3 players, Loosli (with DEF order) that started as a defensive midfielder, now become a extra striker in the team.

Montenegro enter in the match using a 4-3-3 as it we show it before... but this 4-3-3 turned into certain areas of the field... first of all we have to understand the ideas that Michele79 brought to this match, as a coach... we can say that Michele79 is a sometimes conservative coach preferring to avoid big problems like numerical superiority which was an example of Montenegro using a ''5-2-3'' against Russia since he was think that maybe Russia was try to attack with 3 strikers like they did it against Italy, but on same time ... if he found a hole in the opponent's strategy, he can be a coach who is more aggressive in his plan... like using a 4-2-2-2 against Italy (that I liked because Michele79's 4-2-2-2 was one of my favorites formations in this U21 World Cup) because they see it before that Italy have problems against teams that play well on sides of the field... Michele79 tries to play in the opponent's mistake... and against Switzerland was no different... he tried to play in a 4-3-3... a 4-3-3 where the first aggressive line of defense was the line of 3 midfielders in the centre that avoided easy and direct passes for the Swiss strikers by being in the possible passing lines of Switzerland... and since the Swiss team did do not have depth and width of your midfielders to advance in the field to create a better chance against Montenegro, this made Montenegro able to neutralize more easily mainly because the focus of Montenegro's defense line was always the center of the field, creating a kind of blitz when the ball managed to pass the first line of defense and went to one of the strikers... this blitz also happened in the 1st line with the midfielders and also was the reason to the 1st goal happen, Montenegro steal quickly the ball created a hole in the Swiss defense making Simić be free to score.

But maybe you're thinking that as Montenegro also had 3 midfielders in the centre, they didn't have any numerical superiority, but it was the opposite, Montenegro's 4-3-3 had a player who despite his abilities might be a joke for some. one of the biggest communities in the game, for Michele79 was a valued player... Momčilo Borovčanin (with ATT order), it created a width in the field and sometimes even made Montenegro play in a 4-4-2 because it created a line of 4 that created a numerical superiority for the 3 midfielders in the center to be able to occupy more spaces in the Swiss team.... This facilitated the movement of the ball from one side to the other, always seeking to create a hole in the Swiss defense.

And the 2nd goal is the perfect example of this strategy of occupy spaces... Borovčanin with ATT order as a winger become a modern player... a winger that can act like a classic winger in Sokker passing the ball... but also like a winger that cut inside looking to be an extra option in the box to score goals... for being a smarter striker, he sought the pass and as the Swiss blitz on him failed, it ended up giving Montenegro the opportunity to attack this created space... with a quick side inversion and a Simić positioned not in the center where there were more Swiss players, but on the side with room to act... a goal was scored creating a huge space on a team that until then had been a nightmare for their opponents for limiting spaces in the field.

Also, we need to get into an important part of Michele79's mentality, useful players in all areas... during the U21WC, this was noticed with certain players... Vidić played in this U21WC sometimes as a central midfielder, sometimes as a player in the centre of the defenders... being the key player to the start of the playing by the team... Matošić that play most of times as a striker replacing on 2nd half Luburić, also played against Belgium as a player in the side of the field... Borovčanin for example played as a winger in formations such as 4-2-2-2 and 4-3-3 in ATT order, but also as a side defender vs Turkey in MID order... Kojić played as a winger but also as a centre midfielder and probably the most interesting one.... since Montenegro was without 2 defenders for the final... one of the players used as a defender in the final? Janković that play most of the matches as a midfielder replacing Kojić, become a side defender in the final... he probably is a player with good defensive skills and also playmaking skills, maybe he was not the best in pace/defender, but Michele79 also look the other side the things... maybe that player could be useful in other way... Janković was very useful in the final specially since he could pass well the ball, when the ball was with him, was a option to avoid a lost possesion by the Montenegro... We need to remember that because it is a community with few users, the number of players is not large, so in critical moments, a coach who knows how to adapt and make changes with players who are not the best for that role, but who can be useful for having extra skills is crucial and that was one of Michele79's great differentials in this competition.

The art of knowing how to extract the most of a player that would perhaps be unthinkable to be used in a specific position, but was used because it didn't have better options and because the coach thought of methods to make it more useful than it could if it were used. in the traditional way... making him become a key player in the strategy... if Michele79 turned Borovčanin into a player with such important role for the attack to work better, imagine if he had an option for that role a player like Patrik Gočár? The art of cleverly improvising has now made a community of 16 users become world champion, the world is small in the hands of this Italian coach who will probably receive proposals by users from top communities to become the coach of their specific U21 teams... Perhaps this great feat will make great coaches try to create great projects in smaller communities to try to do similar feats, as it certainly opened many people's eyes... The world is too big for only the big communities to dominate, Montenegro has opened the door and maybe that door will never be closed again.

''Montenegro easily play one of the most beautiful football of this U21 World Cup.''
