Hi,
Is the height of a goalie important in this game?

yes. More reach with his arms, less acceleration. As far as I know.
Yes it does! Bigger players will indeed have more chance to win an airial duel against smaller players but they will accelerate slower than smaller players!
mauser is right.
mauser is right.
You read this in the rules ? :-) Ok Mauser is right, I wouldn't want to break a myth or adding another thing to fix for devs.
indeed...
Height
Taller players will have better chances to win aerial duels when heading the ball. However, shorter players will be quicker in speeding up from a standing start (maximum speed will still be the same for players of all heights and is dependent on actual pace skill).
However...weight has never really been confirmed as implemented, this has and it shows on the pitch...smaller players accelerating much faster than larger players!
This makes it also that larger players will have a bigger chance to win aerial challenges, since that rule was implemented in one piece. It wouldn't make any sence to make a dual rule and only implement 1 half of it...

Because you haven't properly read? :-p
Is it important...depends on what you want your goalie to be...
Have a small goalie, he will be faster.
Have a bigger goalie, he will win more aerial duels...
So, if you have problems conceding more goals on crosses and free kicks, a bigger goalie is better.
If your defence is constantly run off by the strikers of your opponents and your goalie has more 1 VS 1, a faster goalie will most of the time be better...

My experiencie...
I was Argentina senior coach for 4 seasons...
"The best" argentinian goalkeeper (only the best in skills), was this:
Ricardo Baxter, edad: 32
club: Dragons F.C., país: Argentina
valor : 4 594 750 u$s
salario: 53 525 u$s
superdivino [18] forma
sobrenatural [16] disciplina táctica
altura: 176 cm, peso: 83.7 kg, IMC: 27.02
SEVERAL times he DROPS the ball when he go high...
1st match, last world cup, was his last.
i choose other goalkeepers whith LESS SKILLS, and they go their jobs SO MUCH BETTER...
Not only "short", but also "Fat"...
He was goalkeeper of SKY MONSTERS for many seasons, winning some tournaments.
In Argentina. he was the WORST EVER.... at least for me.
Thats, my experience
In my team i have ALLWAYS tall goalkeepers, and not once they drop the ball.
but that´s only my experience.

I can agree with your statement!
I have a great GK talent who's also not the biggest (below 180cm) and have lots of drop balls with high crosses or corners! Even when there's no one around.
On the match player it looks like he steps aside to the right when he has the ball with him and then it's followed by a late dive to the left like he throws the ball away himself and dives after it.
OR
he jumps and the ball bounces of him to the left or the right and he lays on the ground, slowly standing up.
This way I conceded lots of stupid goals because he ''bounced'' the ball right into the feet of an opponent striker!
Yet...the bigger keepers on their part ''run'' to the ball as if they're running in tall grass of 1 metre high!

I had similar experience with Australia.
The best goalie at my eyes, lost many duels against taller strikers.
Now I try to choose taller gks

i compare NT top ST, taller to smaller : no differences for head shot, smaller strikers score with the same efficiency, its far more a question of timing and position than heights.
I think experience has something to do with such plays, at least it is what the rules said.
Experience:
Experience is gained by playing matches. The experience level depends on the number of matches played, the percentage of activity during the matches, and the type of the match (friendly, official, national team). Players at lower levels of experience will increase the skill faster than players with higher levels.
Depending on their experience level, defenders could slightly block, or at least slow down, their opponents while running to the ball. However, they will not be able to block while heading duels.
