Why are tactics like this so cool now?
Been playing for 6 years (since 2006 with an ~2 year break) but have never seen this and now a lot of people use them.

That's a weird question :-) It's actually the other way around. As Dino said, this tactic is prehistoric and used to be very popular in the old engine years ago..It's not as common anymore

Hmmm...I am sure that I haven't seen it so often before.
What surprises me then is that is is being used by many top division clubs in almost all leagues.

532 [with 3x CM / 2x CM + wing] is popular because it works well - that's all
