Assocciation Football is where it comes from. To distinguish it from all the other types of football that sprung up at around that time. Just a common name for it back then.

My teacher said it to me.
They say Fussball.
It was Eastern of German where people talked a little different than others.
Anyway.
In Estonian as said alrady sokker is Jalgpall.Vutt or Jalka in people talk.
Officaly its Jalgpall.

It is not only in eastern germany where they talk a little different than others ;-)
