Subject: II World War
Poland doesnt had a word in the WWII.They were conquered, and then they win their liberty with the help of russians. What it is so interesting about Poland...more interesting is what had happened in the balkans.
actually, there was an interesting thing borkos mentioned which is called Ribbentrop - Molotov pact...
i understand, this is a good topic where we can talk about our grandfathers days. But Poland, what was poland in the wwII.Nothing! They cannot did nothing, because in the west was Germany and in the east Russia. Two great powers.
true, as a country we can`t do nothing.. but Poles fight in this war and the`re contribute to many triumphs, often undervaluations and disregards on press facts (enigma, polish airmans in England etc..)
Poland used a great courage to defend his country, they started with the soldiers and continue the WWII with the civilians that done everything possible to get the freeedom. Regarding the molotov-von rippentrop act it was done two have the completly control of poland, he was done to prepare german to the barbarossa's action (the conquer of russia started in 1941) leaving to stalin the conviction that german and russia will have never fight in WWII.
The massacre of katlina was committed from stalin to kill all the polish officer (just to get to hitler an example of the molotov-von rippentrop contract). Statitics said that stalin orders the kill of 13,000 polish officer.
Remember that in d-day there was polish parà that attack togheter wit english army...

Blue division, Falange organized this, Falange was a fascist party that won the civil war. Falange members hated comunism so they organised Blue Division for helping Germany with volunteers.
Franco was a militar, not really politic, but he was supported by Falange , and he did think Hitler was going to win the war so ..he stayed "neutral" but supporting axix and fascist side with logistic.
Many of this spanish of Blue Division were dead in Russia, the ones that survived were given the iron gamade cross ( cruz gamada de hierro? )
I know an old spanish in Valencia, the grandparent of a friend of mine , he has this cross..he tell us Germany was not what they used to think it was ( i mean the ns politic system), they felt more close to the fascist party of Mussolini
Franco stopped helping Hitler when he realised Germany was going to lose the war ( about one year before finishing), ..by chanching his foreign minister to another more pro-britain.
Anyway, Spain didnt recived Marshall help , as punishment for his Germany-Italy support. Until 60s years, when Usa realized Franco was a good ally against comunism.
The other story of the other spanish are this ones wich i said left spain for fighting the fascism and where the first ones to go inside Paris.
PD: Im not History, just read it for fun, so maybe i am wrong on some details :)
