Subject: Computer Problems

Haven't found a topic about pc problem here, and i'm struggling with one. :)

I've bought and installed a game called 'Rome Total War'. (gold edition) I played it for i while, and then searched a patch to remove the bugs. Finally found the 1.2 official patch and installed it (said it couldn't find Rome Total War, so i had to manually search it). But each time start the game it says it can't find the official Rome Total War cd..

Does anyone have any idea what i could do to fix this? It's driving me crazy. :s

Did you bought the game or downloaded?? It's a crucial question

Indeed, if it's the latter you should know that installed patches on downloaded games don't always work, and might cause trouble.

Remove and instal from beggining game. I have that Gold edition (whit Barbarian Invasion expansion). If im right in Gold edition there is already 1.5 version (latest), 1.2 is older and maybe that causes you problem when you trying to downgrade its version.

Ah i've got that game, love it. Never bothered with any patches though and last time i checked the website for it was down.

Few years ago had tryed few, but everytime i get back to this game i play original :) Well map extension (inreasing city number) patches are good, doent remove any original stuff just adds some goodies.

i want to install the realism mod, that's why i asked him if he had any experience since he's got the gold package too ;)

one of the best games ever, but i'm sure it would be even better without the tiny bugs and more realism :)

Does your computer find other cd's?

And if he finds other CD's, let him search the lost CD's in your room, behind the bed and stuff..

jep, but i'm going to try reinstalling and directly adding the realism patch, hopefully that'll work

Well, i just tried it, and it doesn't work.. I start the game, and it automatically shuts down the game. This stupid thing is driving me crazy. :s

6months free plus for the user that can solve my problem..

Yes he is.

Ok first you should copletly remove your game, from ad/remove (There could also be your instaled patch 1.2 in ad/remove programs!, try to look for all files that is whit this game and delete them all) and delete all folder (whit files) in Program Files (where your instaled game is). When thats done, write clean version of your Gold dvd. Then it should work fine. I gues you didnt copletly removed this game or didnt seen that there was 1.2 patch in ad/remove programs, all patches or mods are separate from original game in ad/remove section, if you instaled some mods try to look for them and delete before instaling clean version.

the 1.2 patch and the realism mod were never between the programs in the ad/remove section..

by the way, the game allways works fine when i reinstall it, that's not a problem at all, it just doesn't work anymore when i add a mod or a patch..
