I use MSI Afterburner, very easy program to check or reset your fanspeed and see temperatures:

MSI Afterburner 2.2.0

There is some weird duck sound coming from my computer when i havent used it for few hours and then open some program, like firefox.

Its quacks 3 times. Never heard anything like that.
No viruses or .wav files under scheduled tasks or anything.

For the first few times i checked behind the computer if there is a real duck in there but no. I doubt that he is inside the computer too.

Anybody experienced something similar?

Maybe you set some personallized sound for some program to let you know a friend comes online by giving that quack sound, or the other did set a personallized sound? ;)

No, havent set anything up. No games, no new programs installed.
Just quacking for like 4 days now.

Only thing i could think of is Windows Update, but i dont know why would they include such update:D

Googled it and there seems to be few other people with that problem(besides me and Bugs Bunny)
Tho noone seems to know the solution.

No messengers with Buddy Lists are open when it happens?

You mean msn?

Its open, but all the sound settings are default.

MSN for example, or some other messenger. Try to change the preferences to 'no sound', if possible.

I think i got it! Sound scheme under control panel has been modified from Windows Default to somekinda Characters theme(it must be windows update that did this)

Ill leave the computer on for a night and see if the duck has died or is still quacking in the morning when i turn it on from sleep.

Thanks for the sound scheme idea:P

Very funny :D

but it is not coming from sound or speakers, woofers or whatever....it is coming from motherboard or processor!

Mine stopped now. Mine came from the motherboard aswell. I guess in the sound scheme there is somekinda sound set so that the processor or motherboard reacts when it starts to work or something. Did you reset the scheme from control panel?
