Yes I think it's that too.
In france sports are rugby, soccer, tennis too, handball and swimming.

That's true, Norway is doing great for such a small country with only 4.6 million residents.

Rintje Ritsma .. that's a long time ago :) He is old now ... ;) He tried Marathon skating after his speedskating career, but that wasn't really a success :P

I think that national televisions only show sports your country is good at and the non-international clubgames (probably mostly soccer..). People do not want to see sports where their country sucks.

It seems you're right, we used to watch WRC when Marko Märtin drived, but in other sports estonia have never been good at (we were good in basketball, but that was before Estonia, we were part of Russia, don't know how was it called before in english)

Now we don't watch anything beside CC

I have a friend from Talinn and he said me that in Estonia, WRC in very appreciated! :D

It was, but I think your friend is in a bit 'older generation' I'm 14 and my friends are until 16 and none of them knows anything about sport (well they think that they know, but anyway...).

When speed skating is mentioned I instantly think of Jochem Uytdehaage and his double back in Salt Lake City. For some strange reason I remember the 2002 Olympics way better than the one in Torino ^^ Postma, Ritsma, Romme, etc. So much world-class skaters you had 8 years ago :)
2010-02-25 21:05:43
indeed, 2000 summer and 2002 salt lake were the best olympics, cant remember anything from other olympics:P
2010-02-25 21:55:57
i remember from salt lake city a big big mistake make by the sweden goalie ,tommy salo,in the match belarus - sweden 4-3 ,a crazy match
2010-02-25 21:56:55
1992 in Barcelona and 1994 in Lillehammer. Now that was two great Olympics!

WHAT ?? Norway is the number 1 country in speedskating in history of the Olympics and you're asking who Kramer is ... ?? What is your next question, who is Håvard Bøkko or Johann Olav Koss ?? ;)

I was only pulling your legs. Kidding. I know very well about Sven. We don't mention him in Norway.

Sven? Who's that?
