I grant you show great interest and ... be two hubris ridden know-it-alls.

Well, in this 'discussion' about Greece and Macedonia I haven't said anything about Macedonia being Greek or not. I only showed some historical facts about borders and regions and also why some comments that are posted are just not true. For example: 'definitions of nations and names can not change', but also, if you look at the history of that region, why Macedonians do have a valid point to claim land if they consider themselves not being Greek, which is a problem for those Greeks who do consider Macedonians being Greek, an extreme contradiction.

And all other things that I wrote were personal opinions, my own truth ;) but ofcourse others can think I'm wrong.

Tito sought to justify future Yugoslav claims towards the rest of Macedonia (Pirin and Aegean), in the name of the "liberation" of the region. The potential "Macedonian" state would remain as a constituent republic within Yugoslavia, and so Yugoslavia would manage to get access to the Aegean Sea.

I knew that people from abroad don't know the actual real Greek history and swallow whatever they're served by their media, but so many pages filled up with real brain farts,i just couldn't imagine

Long story short
Ancient Macedonia was a very large kingdom that was placed in parts of Nothern Greece,South Yugoslavia,South Bulgaria and South Albania
The people that lived there were talking Greek, were writing Greek, had the same Gods as the rest of the Greek city-states
There are actual historical evidence for that
History moves forward, the ancient Macedonian kingdom (along with the rest of the Greek city states) was conquered by the Romans, then evolved to the Byzantine Empire, blah blah, then the Slavs came, conquered a portion of what today we call Greece, the Byzantines took it back, then the Crusaders came, the Venetians and eventually the Ottomans

So you really think that a Slav based nation that speak a Slav language and write with Cyrillic alphabet and finally they came later in the area, should be calling themselves Macedons?
Yeah that seems legit
Macedonia is a part of Greece's ancient history just like Crete and the Minoan Civilisation is a part of Greece's ancient history
It's a part of our national culture
It's one of the things that make us Greeks,it's our heritage
And they want to steal a part of our history with lies and propaganda

That what the fuss is about,it is not about the borders or the territory
We don't want the land that they live,Balkans are big enough for all of us to live as long as everyone respects their neighbours and their history

I don't expect of course people from Belgium or the Netherlands to understand the meaning of national heritage given that you don't have one...

National heritage or not, as if it is something to be proud of ? The thing you call heritage looks a lot like civil particularism.

@ manuchao - You, my friend, use your brain box very very little. You take a good thing and destroy it. Why?

Greek culture, history and its part of our world's workings is one of the most important. It is a beautiful thing which constitutes a huge part of all western culture, ideals and thinking and is important for Belgians, Dutch, Irsealis, British, Americans and everyone else.

Then, out of 20 sentences in your post, you make 6 or 7 that are relevant to the discussion and the rest is just insults and stupid remarks. What for? All your point of view, even if historically correct and ultimately accurate (and I am not saying it is or isn't) is worth nothing when you insult someone else's nationality. Maybe they are ignorant, and maybe they make bad arguments that make you mad - I know I certainly wanted to kill Charles Hill on several ocassions - but how you getting insulting is beneficial to convincing us that you are right? If other people show bad manners in arguing, it doesn't mean you have to do the same thing.

Unfortunately sometimes it is impossible to convince people and we have to learn and live with that. Sometimes the truth is universal and sometimes it is very personal.

:)

I was not reading all this about Greece and Macedonia.. my view on this is that Macedonia was one of various north greek clans which form also with others greek nation and create Greece. So imho Macedonia is something separate but it accepted greeks culture, language and so.... so after some time at the past we could be saying that they all are just greeks.
But this is just what I know about this, I dont know if my knowledge are good.
Congratulations, I learned nothing knew. Nobody ever claimed Macedonia (country) is the cultural heir of ancient Macedonia.

However, a country has still the right to call themselves what they want.
I don't expect of course people from Belgium or the Netherlands to understand the meaning of national heritage given that you don't have one...

Indeed, you Greeks are the only ones with national heritage. This is just plain stupid.
