i have compelling need for discussion about freedom of speech

and I guess I'm not alone

can we (sk users) discuss about it here?

You may discuss anything you want here, provided it's SK related and doesn't go against the rules. Fair warning, specific decisions made by the staff may never be discussed.

Freedom in general is overrated and especially freedom of speech. In western democracies people ask for freedom of speech more often than it is necessary and usually when they have something to say that really should not be heard by anyone.

Freedom of speech is fine as long as you do not upset others in doing so for no good reason.

....oh and also as long as it is within the rules of any forum - if there are such rules. ;)

That's also the opinion of the Chinese government who arrogantly assume they're always correct, simply because they have the authority to crush anyone who says otherwise.

If somebody want to accuse somebody without prove or just insult him, can we consider this as freedom of speech ?

freedom of speech is needed, but country should have also effective and cheap court/judical system, to other side can give author of accusing without prove or insulting on court and maybe win and clear his name (then other side must pay for it of course).

In any respected judicial system the accused is allowed a fair and public trial. In Sokker, it's the equivalent of having a bag put over your head before being thrown in a van and disappearing.

Also the reasons are clearly designed to stop potential cheaters perfecting their skills. I think you will find other games follow the same trait such at HT.

For me, freedom of speech should be almost unlimited. Almost because you shouldn't be allowed to call up for violence against someone or threaten someone. Apart from that, you can say what you want. If you want to be stupid, you can deny the Holocaust - and I don't deny that, let that be clear. You can say the Islam is a despicable religion, just as you can say that about Christianity, Judaism, ...

However, there is also a freedom of listening. If you say such things, you'll have to accept some people will simply not listen to you. That's freedom too.

Edit: And freedom of speech does not count when you say information you have gotten illegal (by international law).

yes!!!
It's really simple.
You can say whatever you want EVER,
then if your words produce any kind of damage (that a previous edited law contains) you'll pay the price..

The same for omicide: you can kill who you want, then they'll punish you as law say..

you are talking about that NT tranier, with perna ban ? Or generally about RL ?

His article was ugly/a bit funny maybe, but I suppose that maybe 100days and financial fine would be better than pernaban. But we can not discuss about reasons, sokker dont allow freedom of speech here, so nobody of us can know exact reasons for pernaban. So this discussion is useless. Sokker doesnt allow this type of discussion !

Because given that system, anyone could be banned for any reason and no-one would be able to do a damn thing about it or even question why it happened. That system eventually leads to massive corruption and ... oh, I dunno, situations where staff might do something to damage a users club. Not that anything like that would EVER happen here...

Well actually I was trying to answer Nin on the reasons why there is not a freedom of information within Sokker. :)

Ah I forgot to reply to that bit. Yes for once I will agree that users shouldn't be given the specifics of how to cheat but there does have to be some kind of explanation.

Which is exactly why any major decisions must be dealt with by the entire staff team. :p

Kind of like government cabinet I suppose. Yes things have happened in the past but lessons were learnt everytime. Oh and that situation was a one off and it was not all staff it was an NT issue...plus again there were 2 sides to the story and an apology was made and I believe accepted?
