Friendly match:
#18 Argentina
vs
#38 United States
The United States is coming off a heartbreaking loss to highly ranked Columbia last week. Despite going down 3-0 after only 14 minutes the US staged an amazing comeback, equalizing in rapid fashion, only to lost in the 90th minute.
This week the Americans will face another strong regional power in Argentina. Missing arguably there two most influential starters in defensive standout Avery and team Captain Winslow, the US will be hard pressed to come away with a positive result.
One thing is for certain the Americans are due for some breaks, in consecutive weeks they have played well against higher ranked opposition only to watch valuable points slip away due to very late goals allowed.
The manager was clear about the message conveyed to his players: "We told them they need to focus in those late stages. They need to play through the mental and physical fatigue. It's a 90 minute game. They don't give out trophies for winning the first 80 minutes."

Game recap:
The United States managed to hold on for a hard-fought scoreless draw against favored Argentina yesterday.
Once again the Americans lost a defender to a red card and needed to play a man down for nearly the entire second half.
Goalkeeper Leo Shelton had possibly his finest performance for the National Team, saving a penalty, producing several other quality stops and dominating the penalty area in general.
"He was immense," claimed the manager, "We had some key players out due to injuries, two of our best outfielders, and then we went down a man. Someone needed to step up, and today it was Leo."
The Argentines will by all rights feel aggrieved not to have claimed all three points, they carried the play throughout, but in the end the Americans were able to hold on and steal a point.
