Man U Fans? Let me guess, Yankee fans too??? City 'til I die!
2006-09-20 23:52:57
haha :) as a matter of fact i am a yankee fan (but thats only because my fav team the phillies never get to the playoffs)
2006-09-21 00:47:03
Yankees ... my fav. team for over 60 years ... yeah .. I'm a geezer
2006-09-21 01:54:56
giggs is on my club page emblem
2006-09-21 02:51:03
He was good.
Now, all the Mexican strikers are..pft.
2006-09-21 02:55:35
The strikers that Mex take to the world cup are pretty old. I liked:

Guille Franco: I saw him playing with Villareal, he have nice level.

Fonseca: I saw him very "nervous" on the WC but he played well

Will see next generation

I liked their left wing back, Andres Guardado.
He has a good future, if he is trained properly and doesn't become a little b****
They only let him play vs. Argentina...and got taken out in the second half cuz of an injury.
So I don't know he's good from that game, well he is, cuz he played well.
But in his team Atlas...

Don't look now, but this year may be different for the Phils...
2006-09-21 14:03:37
Until they run into my Mets again, and get their asses handed to them.
2006-09-21 14:40:29
Not gonna happen. The Metsies will wilt when Pedro's foot hurts and he cries, and when Glavine's 63 year old arm falls off.
2006-09-21 14:53:22
it doesn't matter. your pitching sucks on both ends - starters and relievers.

We havent had Pedro for half the season. Shawn Green and Jose Valentin are our 7 and 8 hitters. Our bullpen owns and we don't even have Duaner Sanchez.

The only teams that can beat us with our suspect starting pitching are teams in the AL.

Just like when my Giants punked your Ea-GALS and your punk kicker Akers this past weekend.

How'd that taste?

Hrm. Interesting theory about pitching for the Phils. Remember who the all-star closer was? Gordon. Since the Phils traded for Moyer and Wolf came back, their starting ERA is below 4. In the last 21 games, their ERA is 3.38. Myers has a 3.94 ERA for the season, and has a 2.45 ERA in his last 6 starts. Hamels ERA is 2.35 in HIS last 7 starts.

Your bullpen will get a workout, since the starters blow.

You do realize, by the way, that the Phils' offense is better than the Metsies. Phils - 806 runs (#3 in MLB). Metsies - 732.

Right. Keep thinking that the Giants won that game. Nice replay on the interception. Nice flag on Cole. Nice no-calls on 3 holding penalties in the 4th quarter.

PS Interesting how an Islanders fan (the team with the worst contract signing in history) skips dealing with hockey....
2006-09-21 15:39:41
Gordon is old and washed up. He's as much an 'all-star' as Paul LoDuca is for the Mets.

Thats what happens when you let idiot fans vote.

As far as the offense goes, the answer to that is simple: your sandlot ballpark that you and I could hit home runs in. The Mets ballpark is a REAL ballpark, old school not enhanced for steroid hitters.

in fact, in 18 games, the Mets are 11-7 against the Phillies...and have outscored them 105 to 79.

Our bullpen is battle-tested. Is yours?

Per the Giants: You want to talk bad penalty calls, LOL, you really want to break down film on how often Strahan and Osi were held? Please.

per the Islanders: Thing is, the Flyers have exactly as many Stanley Cups as the Islanders do in the past 15 years. Zero.

You wanna talk Flyers hockey? Better get out your walking cane, because Bobby Clarke has a fascination with old, washed up players. Much like the Rangers. Except when the game changed during the lockout - the Rangers to their credit adapted. The Flyers? Nope. Nothing but a first round defeat in the playoffs waiting to happen.

Makes them ultimately no or marginally better then my Islanders.

anything else un-intelligent add? :p

Gordon is old, and battle tested (in your language). He led baseball in saves at that point in the season, and is still #5 in the NL despite his injury.

Small park or not, that's where almost 1/2 the games in any playoff series will be played.

The Metsies owned the Phillies when they were running Eude Brito and Scott (AA) Matheson out there. Impressive. Be interesting to see what happens if the Metsies play with the starters intact. I remind you that the Phils swept the Metsies a few weeks back, and the lineups were the same as they'd be in the playoffs.

Phils bullpen sucks eggs. Hopefully, the starters can go 7 and the bullpen can't screw things up.

If you don't acknowledge that the Giants were lucky to win, then I can't really debate football with you. Mental cases are too sad to debate IMO.

True on Cups. Shrug. And that means what, exactly. The Isles have made the finals zero times in 20 years. At least the Flyers made it 3 times.

Have you looked at the Flyers roster this season? They have 9 players over 30 years old, and of those I wouldn't think that you'd believe Forsberg, Kapinen, Sanderson or Knuble are "washed up." Or maybe you would - I expect stupidity out of any NY sports fan (I work in NY, you see, and am forced to listen to them all day, every day....) By the way, the Islanders have TWELVE players over 30.... Which team relies on old players more?

Perhaps in the future when debating you'll decide to add in some statistics to back up your theories. Then again, since there aren't any stats that would do it, I suggest you continue to use no stats.
2006-09-21 16:43:41
I've given you statistics. You've chosen to ignore them.

You, like every other self-absorbed Philadelphia fan, is in denial at the comeback the Giants dropped on your sad Eagles. Manning was 13-14 in the 4th quarter and OT. In fact I heard Amani Toomer was STILL catching passes on Lincoln Federal Field...

You guys straight up choked. Accept and deal with it.

You know, it's your (Philly fan's) fascination with constantly trying to prove Philly teams and fans are better then New York ones that drives you to insanity and stratostrophic levels of delusionalism.

The sooner you realize it will seldom if ever happen, the happier your sports life will be. No need to boo Santa Claus, cheer for opposing players to get injured and carted off the field, or need an actual magistrate in your own stadium....

You've utterly ignored the fact that holding takes place on every play in the NFL. Ask any coach at the high school, college, or professional level. Who's mental again?

Only the more blatant ones, that are seen by refs, are called. Calling me a simple name when I provide absolute facts is pure folly.

Although I think we can both agree NFL officials are by far the worst officials in sports.

Making a pathetic excuse for your Phillies starting pitching falls against the deaf ears of logic, as the Mets have been in the same predictament ALL season. Remember Jose Lima? We even had to drag Mike Pelfrey out of double A ahead of schedule it was so bad this summer.

Here is the closer comparison, by the way:

Tom Gordon: 3.09 ERA, .227 BA against.
Billy Wagner: 2.08 ERA, .205 BA against.

Yep, we are continuing to kill you with your own closer. Even he knows the Phillies suck - or he'd have stayed as they offered pretty much the same money.

Remind me again what series the Phillies swept us? There was none. You took 3 of 4 three series ago...then we took 2 of 3 the next/last two series. IE After that series.

We outhit you in your own stadium, and if your sorry butts a) make the wild card and b) win your divisional series we will sweep you faster then you can type out 'boo hoo'.

Then again, from your last post I don't even think you realize that the Mets and Phillies won't match up in the first round.

As far as the Flyers go, if you're bragging about getting to the finals 3 times, I guess I cant argue with bragging about 2nd place. Over the past decade the Flyers have been a bit better. Then again, this conversation never began about hockey.
This is just your last-ditch attempt at diversion because your Phillies arguments are awful. Perhaps it works in courtrooms for you, but not here, buddy ;)

Oh yeah, and the Flyers have 10 players over 30 - and an 11th on Oct 1st.

Finally, WFAN is awful. I agree. Fatso and Fruitloops (Mike and the Mad Dog) are the worst show. I don't listen, I listen to ESPN radio on XM before I listen to these clowns, or Michael Kay, Yankee apologist, for that matter.

They choked, for sure. Had some help, though. Cole got tackled after the whistle. Guess who gets that 15 yard penalty with 15 seconds left? Hrm. Nice to see how the Dawkins interception didn't get reviewed. Holding happens all the time. Odd how the Giants seem to get most of the benefit in that game, though. But the refs stink, for sure. They just stunk consistently in the Giants favor as the Iggles were choaking.

Philly v. NY. NY fans are obnoxious, loud and ignorant. They like to yell about how wonderful they are. They ALSO like to say "Well your arguments stink, so I'm better" just like you do. Well, if the Metsies and Phillies play in the LCS (yes, I know that division teams don't play in round 1), we'll see what happens.

Pitching - I didn't talk about old stuff. You did. I like the rotation now of the Phillies more than I like the rotation now of the Metsies. I also didn't say that Gordon was better than Wagner. I just said he wasn't washed up. (By the way, with 12 more appearances than Gordon, it's not so surprising that Wagner has 7 more saves. Given the same number of appearance, it seems likely Gordon would have more saves).

Booing Santa Claus? WOW. Talk about old history. Nice to see that you are as current about fan stories as you are about everything else.

Re sweep - Doh.

Wanna bet a cheap player transaction here or in HA on a sweep if the teams play? I'm happy to do that.....

I didn't brag about the finals. I didn't even bring up ancient history. You did by saying how they both won the same # of Cups. Shrug. If you want to talk about history, close is better than not close. I prefer to talk about this year. The Flyers are going to be #1 or #2 in the division. The Islanders likely won't make the playoffs, and their 15 year goalie will continue to be mediocre forever.
