gibby,
I've played division one college football and after that a decade of club level rugby and there is no comparison.Rugby is a really fun game with a premium on quick decision making but it is no where near as inherently violent as american football. The skills reqiured for both games are very similar, american football is not just about being big and buff, like any other sport, speed and quickness are the quintessential things. The higher level you play the faster it is and the smarter the players are.Course ya still gotta be pretty big:)

I thought the same about (american) football when I moved here 4 and a half years ago.
I'm from Germany and of course I love our football (don't know why it's called soccer here)
When I arrived here I told everybody that (american) football players are weak because they are wearing a helmet and wear all this safety stuff...
I watched a lot of games here in TV or in the stadium...
Well I was wrong!
I have to admit it's one of the most physical team sports there is!
These players aren't wimps or weak.
They are the absolute opposite!
I love football (of any kind)...

Roll Tide!
