So my English teacher has been working on a theory based on evolution and movies.

He has decided that every year, our attention spans get shorter and shorter. The way we stay active is with violence and sex (such as all of you who love 300....that's all it is...)

so he says that many years later blockbuster will have a movie. It will be 5 seconds long and it'll be a naked woman who explodes.

Makes sense to me.

id watch it

How does he explain the vast success of the "Lord of The Rings" movies?I don't think that people's attention spans are getting shorter,I think the people making movies and TV shows are becoming incapable of telling stories and are devoid of any creativity, leading to an unending line of visual diarrhea. You could argue it is a chicken and the egg situation, I suppose, but I think all the money to be made in entertainment(not just good entertainment) has caused the mere idea of quality work to be thrown by the wayside.

That being said,I would definitely watch a naked exploding women!

i agree about the lack of creativity. That's why this summer, just as the last few summers, is going to be another Summer of Sequels. 28 Weeks Later, Live Free Die Hard, Shrek the Third, etc.

oh and don't forget remakes. There have been a couple movies i've seen that i didn't even realize were remakes until I looked them up on IMDB.

If anything, I think TV series are getting better than films. 24, prison break, house, veronica mars, lost of the current still running crop are much better done than quite a lot of the movies out there.

You're quite right. "The Shield" and "Rescue Me"are must see imho. As well as "Monk".

I disagree. A lot of the big primetime TV shows are just grown-up versions of the teen dramas from the 90s. The medical dramas are a great example - whenever things start to get dull, they can just make someone get sick! As long as they have new illnesses to use, they'll never run out of material.

Much of network TV these days is absolute garbage, and what is considered the "good stuff" is just soap operas with bigger budgets and less sex.

Couldn't you say the same for most movies though?
