with the number of people he killed and wounded, I would have to guess he had some semi-automatic, if not fully-automatic weapons on him.

I mean he killed 32 people. Injured almost as many on top of that. Thats some unbelievable carnage.

33 now :/

2 in the dorm, 30 in norris hall + gunman.

Police recovered 2 9mm pistols and lots of ammunition.

9mm pistols? That is unbelievable. That many killed with a couple of 9's?
2007-04-17 03:31:23
Could've probably used .22's, since he was lining them up against the wall and shooting them in the head.

he had a crapload of spare magazines on him. Lined people up and executed them.

When he killed himself, he STILL had a crapload of loaded mags.

Don't know if youve read yet, but its a student thats done the damage.

It's a real shame that things like this happen, so what you allow guns, it still amazes me what some people are capable of, something like that just wouldn't ever enter my mind, let alone to go out and do it.

Guns are everywhere though, if someone wants a gun bad enough, they can get it anywhere.

Even if there are no guns, knives are commonly available and that's the main type of killing that happens here that you hear about. There are numerous other things that can be turned into weapons aswell - ie cars.

Very sad that something like this happens, saddest for those who saw people dying around them and for those who died.

Also, he was a chinese student on a visa. There's no way he could have legally gotten the guns.

South Korea.

Ballistics tests show one gun was used in two attacks on the campus Monday morning — at a dormitory were two people were killed and in a classroom building where 31 people, including the gunman, died locked inside, Virginia State Police said.

Police identified the classroom shooter as 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui (pronounced Choh Suhng-whee) of South Korea. There was no indication Tuesday of a possible motive for the attacks.

"He was a loner, and we're having difficulty finding information about him," school spokesman Larry Hincker said.

Cho was in the U.S. as a resident alien with a residence established in Centerville, Va., but living on campus in Harper Residence Hall, the university said.

Two law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of because the information had not been announced, said Cho's fingerprints were found on the guns used in both shootings. The serial numbers on the two weapons had been filed off, the officials said.

One law enforcement official said Cho's backpack contained a receipt for a March purchase of a Glock 9 mm pistol.

I think he was a South Korean student who was a legal resident of the US which I guess means that he could legally buy a gun?
2007-04-17 16:56:03
correct.
2007-04-17 16:58:14
If he bought it in march then he probably planned the shooting which makes it a lot harder to stomach. It's not as if he had a breakdown or anything like that.

Ah ok. Haven't read any of the articles today.
