Subject: U21 - valgtråd / election thread

2009-12-10 14:50:40

Due to the importance of the forthcomming U21 election, on request but also on my own initiative, here is a general election thread. We've got a good crop of very talented youngsters, who could bring Denmark succes at the next U21 World Cup, and that is why it's so important that we get the best possible candidate for the job. This thread can be used to debate, ask questions, anything really.

Question for all candidates:
How much will you incorporate 20 year olds in the next WC qualification tournament? Would you base your regime on giving 20 year olds the posibility to gain advantage on the new training scheme for NTs (50 per cent training per NT-match) ?

I am taking this question as a general one to all candidates. Firstly, thanks for the question...and this thread as i cannot bump my own thread ;)

Would i utilise 20yr old players? First and foremost IF we have qualified and have an easy game then if a 20yr old was on the peripheral of the team then yes i would play them. For me, 20yr olds and younger are for friendlies and easy games which are obvious wins. Im pretty sure there shall be the odd 20yr old who will be good enough - hell the Scotland team has 1 18yr & 3 19yr olds in it right now as they are currently better than the 21yr olds in it. So to recap - if any player is good enough they will play - regardless of age. Friendlies and easy win games which have no importance (doubt it there will be too many of them) then i usually play fringe players and younger players.

One thing i believe in is that a few caps here and there for players keeps the trainers happy and very interested in their players development. Phil Rosel is a classic example of that for Scotland. I gave him 3 or 4 caps i think it was when he was only 17. He is nearly now the best keeper Scotland have had in 5 seasons and he is only 18.

I hope this answers your question.

In official match it would be base on the other team strangth and ower positon in the group.

In friendlies for sure, even though it may cost us some ranking points ;)

Ill translate in this thread, even though my offer where for when elected

For the NT-Teams the new training scheme (+50%) is a good news, because it encourages more than before "big" managers to have their young talented players in the NT.

According to me to be NTU21-Coach is very difficult, because you have frequently to find the rigth balance between the importance of the single match result and the long-term enhancement of young talented players.

So I'll be very concise:

1) WC-Qualification difficult/decisive matches: I'll do the best tactic with the best players U21 (age is NOT important).

2) WC-Qualification easy matches: I'll do the best tactic with U20 best players and eventually NT-potential 19y players.

3) Frendly/Special matches: I'll experiment tactics with U20, preferring pure Danish players (coming from danish teams)... so potentially also with 17/18y players.

4) ... I'll be very open to any suggestions of Danish community.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well... I couldn't find a thread to write in so here goes:

Fantastic game yesterday by the U21 team. Well the opponent wasn't that good, but always good to see that our team is gettin better and are playing really well. That is very promising with a future WC in sight.
And a huge cadeau to guy fink. It hasn't always been easy to be U21-trainer (I know), and some of the games hasn't went our way, with a lot of missed chances. But yesterday the guys really showed what they are made of. :)

With that said... I still miss some on the community part. There is no doubt that the results is gettin in first line, but imo the community part is importent aswell. As I said in another thread, I believe that qulifiying for the upcomming WC should be the new U21-trainers 1st priority. I need to vote on the player who I believe well be the best man for job. And imo the Italian-mob is standing really strong atm. They have showed us, that they are capable of getting the right results in the importent games, and they still have a high community-standard. So right now my vote is for: Davornmar.

Good luck to all though.

I thank you sincerely for the great esteem that I read in your words. I am strongly convinced that the Danish community, already very competent, could grow strongly through greater involvement of all. This is what I would try to create around your U21, as in my country happened for the Italy U21.

@ guy fink you say in your thread...

"its a group of 5 teams only,
it means that, there is no chance to qualify from 3rd place (and we will have 2 weeks without a any match."

I dont believe there is any 3rd place qualifiers this time around as there are 16 groups of which top 2 go through which gives us 32 for the next 8 groups of 4.

you right, tnx
2009-12-13 16:53:41
your welcome.

A couple of questions to all the candidates if i may.

1. When the NTDB is taken off the air what are your intentions on this matter?
2. Scouting for youth players both new and unknown - how do you intend to do this?
2009-12-13 17:06:16
Someone already knows me, I'm the actual GK+ATT scout for NT-Danmark in the Vikingo67's staff.
I don't see the NTDB as the only way to share the skill of players. This year I used some scripts to find new players (downloading xml files from the server) and to automatically send skmails users. We also created a personal Excel online database using Google Documents to share updates.
2009-12-13 17:11:14
good to hear. As the history of users is pretty rubbish on sokker - have you ever been an u21 manager? It is a lot different from bothering with an NT - for example - as NT scout you probably did about 1 hours work per week (maybe even less). With U21 players you have umpteen players to keep tabs on each week. For example - last week i sent out 48 sk mails asking for updates on players for Scotland. Scaling that up to Denmark totals you are talking about somewhere in the region of 200+ skmails. This is pretty darn easy with the NTDB but i doubt its very easy with excel and google.
