are there disadvantages to playing a player in a match while he is "slightly injured", if so, what are they?
if your player is appreciably better then his backup, play him.
slightly injured players I believe get a mild negative modifier to skills, and a slight probability increase to getting injured further. It's never kept me from playing a starter though in a league game.
Someone correct me if the above paragraph is wrong though. It might be, it's just what I recall being taught a loong time ago

What I now for sure is that a second injury to such player would put him out of action for longer, around 40+ days.
Not necessarily, I played the match where one player got injured twice and still got out with the slight injury. Pretty strange, isn't it?
That must have been a lucky bug.
It happened enough time to me that I hide my players with slight injuries in a corner, if he needs training.
