Hi... Sorry for the question... But exactly what controls the head ability for a player? Is this the same for defenders and strikers? I watched the WC semifinal match Italy-England... headers were fundamental!!! Thanks in advance!

50-50 headers? or how well they head
2008-11-23 22:03:35
I thought how well they head was simply due to passing as a normal passage... am I wrong? However I was thinking more about 50-50 headers as the one in the match with the English striker!

I think passing, Technique and Playmaking all have some factor. The rules say passing and tech, I can't see how pm would not be involved thou.

Thx... where exactly do the rules say?

I see where it says about passing... but not technique...

It doesn't mention heading directly but I think it fits in more than 1 of the categories.

- skill of controlling a pass; a player with a low level of technique may fail to control even the simplest balls.
- chance of mis-kicking while trying to make a one-touch pass.

maybe I am wrong thou

It is likely you are right since you have more experience... Thanks anyway...

controlling a pass = recieving/trapping a ball at his feet, not controlling an outgoing pass to someone else

my interpretation, backed by countless observations of bad technique defenders fumbling rolling balls in the box, which wouldnt have much to do with headers that arent traps

maybe I am wrong thou

are we still talking about 50-50 headers?
2008-11-25 19:20:57
i was talking about an aspect of technique you mentioned
2008-11-25 20:22:35
Are you saying that you think that there is no chance of misplaying a header because of tech?
2008-11-25 20:45:10
i said this one

- skill of controlling a pass; a player with a low level of technique may fail to control even the simplest balls.

doesnt cuz it has to do with trapping a ball not making passes, because heading isnt trapping

im not sure what they mean by 'one touch passes' as far as this game goes, seems like players always hold the ball for at least a little bit of time before shooting or passing

hmm,

i have some players who sometimes do not hold the ball for even a second.

when the ball is in their vicinity they kick it (they pass it without controlling the ball first).

i think that is what they call "one touch pass"
