How many teams go on World Cup from these groups ?
2011-11-14 02:46:44
hmm.. so guatemala football team is better than jamaica's nowadays?
2011-11-14 15:55:10
Actually Uruguay population is 3,5 million.

In this stage the best two advances to the final round of six teams. Actually CONCACAF has 3.5 spots, three will go directly to the World Cup, and the fourth will go in a playoff against the best of the OFC, which will be New Zealand, if there isn't any room for surprise.

Guatemala had a very strong qualification performance, and they had a very good Gold Cup performance. Not to understimate the Jamaicans (they have great players that are starters in their teams overseas), but if i had to choose between those two, i would pick the Guatemalan team.
2011-11-14 22:13:19
USA, Mexico, and, and ? :)
2011-11-14 22:28:19
Costa Rica and hopefully us against New Zealand.

We were actually worried because we didn't have our usual players. Costly (who has to play in the MLS final) and Wilson Palacios and David Suazo (Injury). This guy, Jerry Bengtson who scored the two goals is a great player back in our league, he was the league's top scorer for three tournaments in a row. Although we had some doubts because he seemed like a club scorer only. But after this, i think we'll be all right.

I wonder why is Costly so succesful in the NT. He was nothing special in Poland, he was below average in PL and had a pretty bad start in the MLS...
2011-11-16 18:35:11
I personally think it's because the team that owned Costly before he went to Poland has a very bad history of making poor decisions respecting their players. The team (Platense) is weak in financial terms and every time a player like Costly they quickly sell them to the first European team that makes an offer and leaves them with little to none experience. There has been other cases like Julio César de León and Edgar Álvarez. Unluckily for both they were late bloomers because of this. And recently they sent another player called Eddy Hernández to a trial in Denmark and Sweden, but failed. This isn't just one case and one team. Evey team in our league makes the same mistakes and leaves us with players with no developed technique.

This doesn't have to do with WC qualifying but...

This made the U.S. and CONCACAF look bad

The first two matches of the third round have been played. Here are the standings

Group A.

United States 4
Jamaica 4
Guatemala 1
Antigua and Barbuda 1

Group B

Mexico 6
Costa Rica 4
El Salvador 1
Guyana 0

Group C

Panama 6
Canada 4
Honduras 1
Cuba 0

Damn it, Honduras! Get it together!

It's on the easiest group imo
2012-06-18 22:05:27
It's indeed easy, the problem is that no good coach Suarez, he called up a lot of terrible players and made one of his many experiments that always backfire. He called David Suazo that always gets injured and Carlo Costly that he doesn't even have a team to play. Everybody wants him fired.
