I see many people who want Spain to be eliminated, is you afraid?
2014-05-27 14:25:46
I think Chile and Spain. Nobody is talking about Spain for this WC but they are still very strong. And if they manage to make Diego Costa fit, then they will have a world class striker finally cause that's the only thing they were missing previous years imo

not afraid

bored with Spanish NT football...
2014-05-27 14:27:30
hehe the right answer

I also get bored.

Spain has a very strong team, we have some injury and our coach did not play with strikers.

but Spain have players to fight again for the worldcup.

Diego Costa is a world class striker, but he only played one match with Spain, I'm not sure that fits in the game of Spain.

Costa may make it to the WC, but I don't think he has any chance of being relevant during the group stage given his injury: he either chooses to wait for full recovery, in which case he'll be out of rythm, or he try to get back as soon as possible (once again...?), in which case he'll be glass-like fragile...
If he chooses to wait and Spain goes through, then he can be important in the knock-out phase.

I think Chile's chances are good, especially with Spain-Netherlands being the first match. If it was the last, it could easily end in a convenient draw, but being the first, there are serious chances one of the 2 will win. Then Chile would have to be very smart to profit from the losers' nerves...
2014-05-27 16:30:05
From what I remember Chile was dominating Spain in their game at last WC and lost only due to diving and bad refereeing...

Imo Chile might be the real black horse of the tournament, not Belgium

actually...if almost everyone claims that Belgium is the black horse...

...then they're actually a normal, top level team, not a black horse, right?!
2014-05-27 16:31:45
But Borja Valero was not called?
He is a fantastic midfielder!
2014-05-27 16:33:47
Too big competition on his position...also I think Borja was better in his first season with Viola...

you can't expect the coach to choose Borja over Xavi/Xabi Alonso/Fabregas

even Gabi didn't get the selection and he was amazing at Atletico...

I'm more surprised that Callejon didn't get any chance at friendlies in Spain. I was expecting him to be a real flop in Napoli, but surprisingly he had a great season and was one of the top offensive players in Italy.

We have an amazing team but even I think that expectations from my country are a bit too high.. We were put with our feet on the ground when we lost two friendly games against Colombia and Japan. Margins will be very small on WC. I also think Chile and Uruguay are two countries to look out for.

Your team is very young and your coach lacks the experience, I think.

I wouldn't expect from the players more than 2nd place in group.
