Subject: [idea] Helping small countries to grow

2020-04-22 18:20:16
to keep fair play i see all nations should be treated equal. if we want to favor any nation we will loose what was promised from developers fair play . All this options second team youth nation etc should be optional i was thinking with plus but then pay2win rule will be broken so not sure at all is good idea.

Indeed. The % this new youth player could be German is the same % he could be Vietnamese. So every country will get more new youth players, if managers keep foreign players in youth school.

Spot on. And the less youths schools there are in one nation, the bigger impact (positive) it will have for them.

You could say the opposite is true for big youth school nations, but it is such a small % fewer for them, that is makes very little difference (as can be seen by my previous example where the small country increases their youths to 156% of their original number, and the big nation only loses 5.7% of their youths.

How does this relate to the actual team?

Well the small nation basically gets 4 youths in the NT that would have existed, or about 15 new youths in the squad.

The large nation doesn't lose a single player from the NT, and loses just 2 players from the entire squad (which is replaced by a very similarly skilled player anyway)

I'm not that good with numbers anymore, so top that you have done this. And great to see it will have such a possitive effect on small(er) countries and very little negative effect on lag(er) countries.

Except for the argument 'nationalistic' there isn't really any argument left to not implement this idea to help small(er) countries. (and make a way more interesting world cup!!)

Ofcourse there are some 'I don't want to change anything', but that's not an argument, just an opinion. Change is coming, DEVs are clear about that, the question is how much will be update to 2020 standards.

Being able to select the nation the pull is from, can be good and bad, but I think overall bad, as certain nations will constantly be favoured due to whatever reason.
It would be rather bad because some poor nations will be not favored (favoring some poor nations isnt bad per se but its bad because due to that other poor nations stays not favored), for example no one would choose Kenya because they prefer Nippon or any other Asian country (for whatever reason as You said) and the Asians wins and Kenya lose which is the case I wouldnt want the functionality to let users choose and I would trust the system which should be able to choose equally instead.

Anyway, I know the numbers, e.g. I know how many users have YS in all countries, who has the best percentage of YS and who has the worst so we can do some experiments and scenarios how the situation might develop in different cases

This is how currently country potentials looks like. Well, it's not exactly current because there were user cleanups recently but generally fresh.

Potential is average number of juniors per week (number of country YS multiplied by 3.5 because every week there can be 1 to 6 new juniors so 3.5 at average)

What results would you expect from the international YS functionality?
How the potential of the weakest/average/strongest should change?
What potential should be achievable by the weakest?

I like the work you have put in.

I'm just not sure where you go to see which teams have youth school present. Would you mind letting me know? There are 4 teams in Australia, according to this list, which I didn't know had youth schools.

Thanks for the info mate. Turns out all 4 of those are inactive :(

How do I have to read this info? Users and YS is clear, but the other 2 columns?
2020-04-24 14:20:38
So other two columns are as follows.

Ratio is the % of total teams that have a youth school. So 0.5 means 50% of all users in that country have a youth school with juniors in it.

The potential is that number multiplied by 3.5. The "potential" he is talking about, is the total average potential number of juniors that could enter youth schools in that country. He chose 3.5 because it is the average of the minimum number that can enter on a saturday (1) and the maximum number that can enter (6).

The higher the potential you country has, theoretically long term, the better your country should be.
2020-04-24 14:25:46
Ah alright.

In that case, looking at all these numbers, maybe smaller countries should have a few % more chance of getting new youth players in largers countries instead of all countries the same %.
2020-04-24 14:33:18
It would be nice, but it would be hard to adjust as countries grow or shrink.

Even a set %, which is the same for all countries, would help bring teams closer, without fairly/unfairly affecting other countries.

I'm sure you have heard this too much already but it would "flatten the curve" between countries. In other words, the divide between strong and weak wouldn't be as big, but the order from strongest to weakest would still be kept in place, which is probably very fair for those countries that have worked hard to get users and players starting youth schools
2020-04-24 14:47:37
If it is linked to the number of users, and 3 or 4 fixed categories it porbably isn't that difficult.

Countries max 50 users = more help
Countries 51 to 100 users = medium help
Countries 101 to 1000 users = less help
Countries 1000 users and more = no help

Or number of youth schools in each country

Countries max 50 youth schools = more help
Countries 51 to 100 youth schools = medium help
Countries 101 to 1000 youth schools = less help
Countries 1000 youth schools and more = no help

At the moment only Poland is that large, but who knows what the future will bring.

It could be done for sure. Would just hate to see any backlash coming from people who think they are getting the raw end of the stick, stop this idea going ahead. Whereas a constant number would mean no possibility that people could feel aggrieved by how it worked.

I'll put it out there, I don't disagree with your idea, I'm just trying to navigate hurdles which may come up and stop the idea from going ahead, for what is essentially only a small amount more help on top of a fixed % kind of help (or even a sliding scale of help).
2020-04-24 15:52:34
In a scenario that I prefer there would be something like sliding scale of help or rather sliding threshold of help.
I would support only the weakest, I wouldn't support Poland etc. because there is no need.

If there would be 15% chances to get exotic junior (from the weakest countries) and 80% chances that user with YS is not Karsten-like then there would be 2614.08 exotic juniors per week to distribute between the weakest, and the distribution of that number would be that the potential of every weakest country would be equal and first non affected country (the one with lowest potential except so-called the weakest countries) would have higher potential.
For example, in aforementioned scenario the first not weak country would be USA with the final potential 73.92 and every country weaker than USA would have resulting potential = 70.66 as a sum of their normal potential from YS and add-on from the functionality.

Obviously these are approx values because finally it would be integer numbers.

i think if ever implement international youth you should be able to assign the country you want excluding your own and again i should be able to use my own youth school if i want
im still against international schools but who ever wants to use them have to pay extra according to me
2020-04-25 12:21:51
very very interesting data table, thanks for sharing !

I see france with a good ratio, good point (for me)...
I expect NT community effort (Ratio) should be gratified too, not only an exotic juniors toss from the weakest countries.(potential)
