Subject: [change] Cheaper Plus

2020-04-21 20:50:00
I remember on 2015, during the economic crisis in Greece (I live since 2008 in Greece), I had problems to pay for Plus, just because thnigs changed in Greece and even 22 € were a problem...

99 PLN(~21,87 EUR) for 1 year PLUS is for some countries very cheap and for some other countries very expensive.

Thanks to technology, one can have different plus subscription price for each country, like Mc Donalds does, for Big Mac (see link for Big Mac Index).

Imho it would be an act of fairness and an act of smart management, if the sokker owner (Gregg) and the developers would adjust the price of plus to each country according to the Purchasing power parity (PPP) (see wiki-link about PPP).

Why fair?
- Because Plus-subscription is expensive for users from countries like Egypt or Turkey, but it´s very cheap for users from countries like Denmark or Switzerland. If Plus-subscription-price is adjusted to PPP, then all sokker nations have equal chances with our beloved game. (Yes, imho, Plus-subscription can be beneficial for a manager, especially if he manages U21 or NT).

Why smart?
- Because it's a concept of making money. It's a win-win situation for sokker-company and for sokker-customers. (And if someone from Switzerland or from Norway thinks it's not beneficial, then he should think how he would feel if there are even less users than now. With the price adjustement, there will be more plus subscriptions in total worldwide.)

I prepared a table, based on the PPP-data of the worldbank, were you can see a potential adjustment of the yearly plus subscription price
(Source of PPP-data: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/PA.NUS.PPPC.RF)

99 PLN(~21,87 EUR) for 1 year PLUS is for some countries very cheap and for some other countries very expensive.

And what kind of job you have. 22 euro can also be a lot in for example the Netherlands ;)

But it's true, it would make sense to use that info for Plus prizes. And because you can't win extra with Plus (no p2w game) prizes should be adjusted for different countries (or regions) with lower income.

EDIT: one thing, the avarage income in countries is often not representable for the real income. See China and USA, 10% of the population gets 90% of the money, or most probably even worse nowadays. That means a lot of poor people.

This topic isn't justified imo...
New devs come to make sokker better, much more up-to-date and then complaining they should "pay" for everything that predesessors havn't done. It's like buying a car from a garage and claiming it should be cheaper cause you've had to drive 10 years with a golf cart...

I don't agree with that.

But I do agree 22 euro isn't 22 euro in each country. I think Sokker will even make more money if they lower the prices in countries with (much) lower income.

For example India and Algeria, Plus is double the price as it is in Poland, according the list. For those countries Plus should be at least half of the current price.

EDIT: price instead of prize, again :P

good point. But that need a more complex system to manage money and transaction. And of course like said @charles hill its all depend on job, wages, and the money we are ready to spend for a game, not just a country.

My option "pay what you want" for a basic "plus" subscription should be a simple win-win solution; and premium "plus" plan for the others fans that can paid 20 euros and certainly more in many many countries.

I think the plus price is important (which is why I brought up the topic), but I do think Raul was right in they want to focus on developing the game rather than plus which is a very fair comment.

uuh, if plus costs here in Switzerland more than 50 € i won't buy plus anymore...that's for me too expensive ;)

Making the PLUS price depending on the country is not the best idea.
What would it be depending on?
1. Country where your team plays?
Well, my team plays in Czechia, but i never lived in Czechia. I lived in Slovakia when i created my team and there was no Slovak league. Then i moved to Germany and now i live in Spain. Which price should i pay?
2. Country where you are currently located?
Zimbabwe proxies here we come.

and I agree with BlueZero´s reasons. I think that the price should stay the same for everyone.

Yes but cheaper plus may lead to more subscriptions, which may lead to more income.
2020-04-22 14:19:40
I don't believe that...
Either you buy plus, cause you feel it's justified to spent some money to have additional content and a more pleasant experience with the game, or you are a basic user who doesn't care about the extra content...
Money reducing is nice but not a reason to spend money for extra content...

I don think it should be more expensive, only less expensive for countries 22 euro is way too much money.

And because no one can win something extra with Plus (no p2w) it is only fair for those countries and without any negative effect for countries still paying 22 euro.

It is very strange to make 1 fixed price for the whole world, while 1 euro is far from the same value around the world.

I think if we would have different prices in each country, obviously the cheapest countries of the Sokker will be very popular after a few time, because there is an opportunity in the rules that will result this scenario. (At the start=registration the new user can choose another country than his birthplace: "If you are from a country other than the one you're currently living in, and want to create a team within this other country, you must contact an admin.") Maybe that will be good for small and "poor" countries, but I don't think that it this is really a good idea.

Agree

You give the answer yourself, managers have to start in their own country, but some exceptions can be made if someone really is living in a different country.

So just a few will get permission to start in a country with lower Plus prices.

Besides, when new managers start playing this game, most won't even know the price will be different in some African or Asian country when signing up for the Netherlands. Most will want to play in their own country. And most Dutch managers won't have problems paying 22 euro. Makes no sense to sign up in Algeria and not the Netherlands because Plus is just 1 pizza cheaper.
