Subject: [idea] NT+U21 Mode Change World Qualification and WC?
- 1
First, I would like to open a discussion here. There is no definite plan yet. The idea is to make proposals and then we will collect and group them bit by bit. There is also the possibility of not wanting any changes, but it is unlikely that the current mode will remain unchanged if the season is shortened from 16 to 12 weeks (or 14?).
Behmen and I exchanged a little bit and we had the idea to adjust the World Cup qualifying. On the other hand, the World Championship should remain unchanged with 32 participants.
Current mode:
From the world ranking list (98 nations) 6 pots are created as follows:
Pot 1: Rank 1 to rank 16
Pot 2: Rank 17 to rank 32
Pot 3: Rank 33 to rank 48
Pot 4: Rank 49 to rank 64
Pot 5: Rank 65 to rank 80
Pot 6 Rank 81 to rank 98
So no consideration is given to the continents. Only the classification applies to the allocation of a nation to one of the pots. Thus there are 16 groups. 14 groups with 6 nations each and 2 groups with 7 nations each.
The first and the second of a group are qualified for the World Championship.
For these 14 groups 10 weeks are necessary and for these 2 groups 14 weeks are necessary (because one team has to take a break every week).
Proposal 1 (Behmen):
Brief description:
Europe is often overrepresented at the World Championships (empirical studies have yet to prove this). This proposal proposes to adjust the qualification. Now fixed starting places are to be distributed to the continents.
Details:
Exactly four continents are planned:
1) Europe (47 nations)
2) Africa (10 nations)
3) America (22 nations)
4) Asia + Oceania (19 nations)
There are 98 nations present. The fixed starting positions are to be distributed according to the D'Hondt procedure:
Europe: 16
Africa: 3
America: 7
Asia + Oceania: 6
If this idea meets with approval, the modes for qualification can be discussed. I notice that it is difficult and may complicate everything.

They said that no changes on NT will be done for now and one of the reasons to move back to 14 weeks is that will fit. In terms of geographical allocation in WCQ I'm against something like this ranking is quite fair way.
I also realized that changes in mode are very complicated and require a lot of preparation and analysis.
If a season is 14 weeks long, then the previous mode should be possible.
