maybe the idea:

Saison A: Continental cups -> the best teams of a continent are automatically qualified for the WC, the other for the "Consolation Lap Trophy"

Saison B: WC-Cup and Consolation Lap Trophy

Here, the first question you have to ask yourself is: Does the majority still want the World Cup to continue?

The following idea is appended: Instead of qualifying for a World Cup, would they prefer to hold a continental championship? (and all champions, finalists and semi-finalists and so are automatically qualified for the A-World Cup in the next saison, while the other is an alternative B world championship)?

If we collect the answers here, we can make better proposals, because we still have too little information on this.

We also need to know how long a season will be, otherwise proposals are difficult.

I had the same idea. Instead of the current qualification there could be continental championships. And teams would qualify to A/B/C World cup by the result in this championship. I somehow denied it because of the big differences in continents but perhaps it could work out somehow

-1@slavista definitely superb disadvantage to European countries at world cup only best should play and current qualifying system is good enough . In RL this is region related due travailing this is not RL no travailing so no point of this ....

If you want to make it interesting you can split it on several levels if you want but definitely no by regions
Continental competitions are another story they should be treated separately
but again this eliminate chance of teams like andora to play and as we seen this WCQ they desreved it so again no point!

current sokker reality is only 1 non European team in to 16 ...

I propose a new calendar for NT

Season 1: World Cup Qualifiers
Season 2: World Cup
Season 3: Continental Cups Qualifiers
Season 4: Continental Cup

The Continental Cups will have the following format:
* Euro -> 16 teams (4 groups)
* North and Central America -> 8 teams (2 groups)
* South America -> 8 teams (2 groups)
* Africa -> 8 teams (2 groups)
* Asia and Oceania -> 8 teams (2 groups)

The notion of 'host country' must be able to be implemented. The stadiums of the clubs of the host country can be used.

My propose
Season A:
-World Cup Qualifications

Season B 1st half
-World Cup + (2 Mini World Cup by ranking)
Season B 2nd half
- Continental Cups: (3 group stage matches + 4 or 3 playoff matches)
1. Euro Cup Clash A with 24 teams + Euro Cup Clash B with 24 teams (by ranking)
2. Coppa America with 22 teams
3. AsiaOceaniaAfrica Cup with 28 teams

I'm obviously outvoted here (at present) but as pointed out earlier there is too big a difference between top team and second team in many continents. It will make for a pointless championship, because the winner will be known prior to the season starting.

The only exciting continental cups will be UEFA and South America.

Also remember, you get continental here, it's likely the DEVs will never implement a continental cup, which many people are interested in, at club level, as the excuse will be "we already have a continental competition"

It would be better to have league options to be able to set up continental competitions if we wanted, rather than official ways of doing so. This way it opens up all sort of other competitions too, limited only to what our imagination is.

So it would be better for someone to be able to make national team leagues and cups, with restriction on locations, rank number, country size and age (but maybe make it so you can only select one restriction when making). This way you can have mini world cups, continental cups, basket cups, U27 cups, small or large country cups etc. So many more options and flexibility

In one season could play the WC and the continental cups. The WC only requires 7 weeks.

Continental cups do not necessarily have to be in systems of group. Different from the WC it could be totally play off.

My proposal.

I think everything is easy to understand.

Less games per season, so it can fit in a shorter season.
Teams would be more evenly matched.

Also, it is not written in stone. Number of teams in WC, or number of teams going up and down can be different.

Well, i need to admit, that im quite surprised, that most of you dont want some similar idea than in real: to play world cup alternately with continental cups.

Well, there are probably few ideas that worth to be discussed:
1. Some B level of World Cup (to give small contires some competition in their reach)
2. League of Nations (maybe it could work together with qualification system? place in league provides you qualifications to any other cups
3. Continental Cups / or some other idea, to group countries for smaller groups to give them a chance for different awards.

@slamtam - thanks for your summaries - its good to have them. We wont comment to much about NT ideas for now, we are sure, that first we need to understand better your needs about them.

this is really sensitive topic for me and i think one of most important aspects of the game but i want to see the news tomorrow will try to be calm but 2 NT games for me not an option at all hundred season WC cycle
