Subject: New Champions Cup

I suggest that a new champions cup with group stage should be introduced.

the idea is that in the beginning all teams get into groups of 4 teams playing one game with each team in the venue of the weaker team (as usual) and then 1 or 2 teams advance to the knockouts depending on the available weeks to finish the tournament and on the number of groups (not all second teams will advance in this case but only the best second ones). it will finish eventually later in the season but I don't think that this is a problem.

In an alternative idea we could separate the champions cup and cup winners cup where in each competitions only champions and cup winners will participate (if in a country the cup winner is the same as championship winner the cup runner up takes the position in the cup winners cup). in this case each team would have to play home and away games for the group stage and only one team advances to the knockouts.

this way all teams will get the bonus of playing 3 matches in the tournament as a minimum which is going to improve their earnings by participating. it makes sense to me since there is no real bonus for winning competitions until now. also the heat is gonna get bigger for the teams advancing to the latest rounds which is going to make the competitions much more difficult!

32 league winners from top ranking nations to qualify to Champions League - with group stage.

Then also have multiple continental cups to cover cup winners and 2nd/3rd league places - no group stage.

I think that I remember your proposal but i am not pretty aware of what the devs are going to do about it. there was some discussion on the topic at some point.

your proposal is also good! I hope that somebody is going to take either one of the proposals into consideration and maybe we can draft a combined plan with the devs.

I suggest earnings to be split even and let the venue take place in the country with the biggest arena

the earnings can be split anyway if there are only 3 games..if there are 6 there is no need to be split in my opinion..the issue is weather they play group games and if yes how many..I believe that this could be a very good thing to implement in the game (plus the additional competitions that James said) :)

I propose to organize four (04) different Champions Cup. One in each continent:
- Europe Champions Cup (64 teams from 47 countries)
- Africa Champions Cup (16 teams from 10 countries)
- North, Central & South America Champions Cup (32 teams from 22 countries)
- Asia & Oceania Champions Cup (32 teams from 19 countries)

The tournaments begin with a group stage of four (04) teams in each group and then 1 or 2 teams advance to the knockout phase.

A World Champions Cup could possibly be organized with only four (04) teams (Winners of the different Champions Cup) in the Semi-Finals/Final format.

what you propose could also happen as well.

the only bad thing is that this way teams that are not champions should be promoted to the champions cup which is not pretty good in my opinion because the way to promote those would create some unrest to the users. it would be better to stick to the champions for the ch. cup and have other international competitions as well for the other teams. merging the continents differently could also happen.

However with South America separated from North and Central America.

Yeah, it's also possible to separate South America from North and Central America. Anyway, we'll have to change the actual format of Champions Cup.
The African teams are eliminated each season in the first round and that is not at all interesting.

the clue is as you said that something has to happen..hope that the devs will take it into consideration

Plus, if all America is united with one tournament, the winner will always be someone from the south. Maybe USA or Mexico could have a chance, but the other countries will be defeated pretty fast.
