Subject: [IDEA] New idea for regrowing small nations

2025-11-24 10:06:29
You don't have to transfer the money directly, you just need at least 3 persons to do it around such system

A has team X in 2nd country
B has team Y in 2nd country
C has team Z in 2nd country

A transfers money to Y and Z
B transfers money to X and Z
C transfers money to X and Y

Oh I agree with what you are saying, which is why I only replied to the concern about teams cheating by trading directly.

What you mean is likely already happening in sokker and probably pretty hard to police as the only ones who may notice it are those in direct competition with the teams doing it and taking the time to look at transfers

How would they go about detecting VPN accounts?
2025-11-24 12:35:00
There are automatic tools for that, you can even check manually the source/owner of IP (same as with internet provider)

And so what ? how its relate to second team ? if you just need at least 3 persons for you system, you still needs 3 persons with or without second team.

I'm surprised that isn't more widely used by streaming companies to protect DRM.

not really, because why would anyone want to send their money to a different team without getting anything, or why would 2 teams send each other the money? there would be no point in me giving you my money and then you giving me the money back.

with 2nd team the point is that

a. you can send the money [indirectly, with friends] to your own 2nd team
b. you can use 2nd teams to boost your main teams [indirectly]

c. you still need friends

The point is that in most cases this doesn't hurt the company, it's just usually omitting the limitations that the companies had to implement due to their agreements with the rights owner.

For example, TV/straming of football matches in 99% cases must have limitations to show the matches only in their country (because prices for rights and tv/streaming different between countries) so that for example people from Germany don't watch Bundesliga on Czech TV/streaming (which would be much less expensive for them). So they have to create a geoblockade so that only Czech IPs can watch Czech match streaming - but for the Czech TV/streaming company it's a non-issue if someone decides to use a VPN to appear as being in Czech and paying the Czech company to watch the game on their streaming.

The only VPN issue for streaming companies is that they have different prices for different countries, for example usually Turkey has much lower prices, so people use Turkish IP on VPN to buy same product for less. And as far as I know in such cases companies attempt to find / limit such users.

For example Netflix bans VPN connections for some time already.

Yes, because it's so hard to find 2 other guys who will also want to "move" their team to a smaller country...

I occasionally use the built-in Apple "plus" VPN, so i m aware that Vpn is not ban on Sokker.

VPN is very common these days, not typically for cheating.
So auto-ban base only on VPN doesn't exist or its is certainly the worst idea.

technically, using a VPN is grounds for getting banned outright.

From the rules... first rules of the entire list...

As an user you are obligated to obey the following major rules. In the game it is forbidden:
- to own or to control more than one team
- to sell or to hand over a team to another user (no matter if he was already playing in Sokker or is a new user)
- to have a team in a country other than the country of nationality or habitual residence. In case of registering from a different country or coming from a country not included in Sokker database, please explain it by writing to admins@sokker.org.
- to transfer any player between the teams that use the same IPs or that log from the same computer

To register your team and recieve permission to share an IP connection or PC, you need to send e-mail to admins@sokker.org, with a description of the situation to justify the request and including ALL team names and user names that will be sharing the computer or connection. This e-mail should be sent BEFORE registration. If you forget about this condition then you may be punished based on the reasonable of suspicion a user having multiple teams.

IN ALL CASES, even with registration and permission to share a computer or IP, ANY TRANSFERS between users who have EVER shared an IP is illegal.

VPN = shared IP in most cases...

See, I understand the rule...but I had a friend who got banned and he wasn't doing anything wrong. Fortunately I knew 'someone' who could help clear things up with admins.
The problem is that there is often NO communication at all about the ban. My friend in question got no e-mail saying he was banned or why. He is a PLUS user who - if I didn't "know a guy", he would've been gone forever. It's not a great recipe for growth.
The internet in 2025 is much different and more dangerous than 2005, and folks like me use VPNs (same country) and I have to remember to not use Opera because that's what the VPN has.

If I were put in charge of America one of the things I would do is send a mass email to the country every season reminding them of this. I understand there's no desire to add staff but man, the existing ones in my limited experience so far do a great job at the nuts and bolts of managing the fairness of the game...but they are just poor at communicating with users.

Everyone has read the rules. Question: We gather as coupon users in a hotel, use one IP ... does that mean we are violators :)
2025-11-24 19:57:37
Yes, since the rules explicitely forbit the use of VPN.
Maybe the game can benefit from an automated system in which transfers are technically impossible to do when you use a VPN or share an IP with other people.
