Subject: [Change] Tragic skill for a junior leaving academy
- 1
- 2
It is unacceptable that juniors who stay in the academy for several weeks leave with tragic skills, especially in non-technical attributes such as speed or endurance. I don't know any kid who doesn't know how to run.
For example, depending on the age of promotion, a minimum level should be assigned, based on the coach's skills and matches played in the junior league.

It's tragic in terms of professional level
so lowest level for a high level athlete, not a normal person
otherwise you can use that kind of logic for every skill... what kind of academy players has 0 playmaking skills, or 0 technical skills, or has 0 ability to pass etc.

One must not confuse technical skills with skills related to morphology. Players with good potential are irremediably lost because of this and waste weeks in the academy because you only see it upon their graduation. A player like that has no chance currently, isn't it a shame?

Given that player skills in the juniors are meant to grow evenly according to the written rules of this game, it's an absolute nonsense.
each individual skill grows proportionally with the overall skill when your junior trains each week.
This is a demonstrable lie.

I don't think it is

If it goes by % then it's not a lie. Otherwise all the players would be very "flat" and all rounded.
@clarom
I agree that 0 pace messes up a player, same as a player with high defender, high pm and high striker with all other skills low etc. I'm just saying it's not illogical or dumb. It's just "the slowest kid in academy group" which doesn't mean he is very slow for a normal kid.
also you can notice if a player is very slow or very fast in youth league games, easiest skills to deduce.

When you've got players exiting with Tragic Pace and Excellent Playmaking, that's not proportional because they clearly haven't grown evenly. And let me be clear, because you guys love missing my point
I don't mean every player should be exiting with all skills as the same level. I'm saying the skills they're exiting with should be progressing evenly from what they entered the junior school with.
So if a player enters with Tragic Pace and Poor Playmaking, they should be leaving with +3 (or whatever number you want) on each skill (so Poor Pace and Adequate Playmaking). This is proportional skill progression, as described in the very rules I've quoted above.

It is proportional if the skills are raised proportionally based on % from training
x% from 0 starting skill is 0, x% from low starting skill is a low increase, x% from higher starting skill is a higher increase

and I'm saying that flat proportion increase irrespective of starting skills level (so +0.x training points in every skills every week) would end up with very bad and flat youths in most cases
for example most top 16-18yo players are good THANKS to the fact they they have 0-2 in some skills, for example ATTs with 0 in defender, wingers with 0 in defender/striker, defs and mids with 0 in striker
you give them points into those skills you take them aways from their positional skills and you end up with worse youths than now

rules does not say that every skill has to grow evenly and you are mistaking "proportionally" part
each individual skill grows proportionally with the overall skill when your junior trains each week.
means that if junior has overall skill = 10.0 and at that time his pace equals to 2.0, then when he reaches 15.0 overall his pace will equal to 3.0
overall skill has grown times 1.5, pace has grown times 1.5 = they grown proportionally

Who watch youth league games ? :-D
Yeah it's growing around an unique factor, another stupid simple pattern.

afaik, it's not starting skill, it's just skill proportions are set in stone once junior comes to ys, so he has e.g.
overall level = 6.5
age = 17
talent = 3.33
weeks left = 10
skills proportions =
0.05 0.05
0.2 0.15
0.22 0.2
0.11 0.02
the sum ofc equals to 1.0
the skills don't grow proportionally to each other as in this example e.g. striker will be growing 10 times slower than playmaker/pace and 11 times slower than technique, but each one does grow proportionally to overall skill level (every +1.0 in overall skill will mean +0.02 in striker)
and, regarding this topic, maybe distribution of those starting skill proportions could be changed slightly so every junior would be focused on single positional skill (one of four on the right) and that way having more "points" to distribute among the skills on the left side (but it would also mean that striker or playmaker juniors would always be without def or with low def)?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense and you've explained it much better than I tried to
as for
"regarding this topic, maybe distribution of those starting skill proportions could be changed slightly so every junior would be focused on single positional skill (one of four on the right) and that way having more "points" to distribute among the skills on the left side (but it would also mean that striker or playmaker juniors would always be without def or with low def)?"
apart from the issues that you mentioned (strikers with no def and no playmaker) it would also lead to defs with no pm/striker (which is great) and mids with no def/striker (which is less great but overpowered for potential winger generation)
all in all I think the end result would be a huge increase in number of potential TOP level wingers, and an increase of high/top level midfielders and defenders and they would never want that
would also lead to many 3x 18 ATTs with terrible secondaries and high passing, which is kind of the most useless skills for a striker to have

The simplest things are often the most likely...
Basically, factor = global level end / global level start.
skill starting level * factor = skill ending level

There's very little, if anything, logical with the youth system in this game.
How do you recognize a slow pace? will it just walk?
How many speed levels can be seen on the display in YS?
