abcde [del] to All
Everyone can share their opinions on how the team should play in future and past matches. English/Chinese (Cantonese) can be used, and I will do the translation if you don't know what others' mean.

The team will play Cyprus in Saturday, which I think is considerably weaker than us, but the problem is two of our strikers are injurerd. So, we must be careful not to lose cheap points because of being unable to score much and hit by counter attack.

Enjoy your first match of this term as coach.
You have a nice opponent to start the season with.

Hope you will win and keep the three points.

So, 4:0 it is. Not too great and not too bad in my opinion.

Wo Yau and Hing Yu did not play well, and our team wasted too many clear cut chances. With a 3-man defense, our defenders did pretty well. Our midfield is alright, but in the late first-half to the early second half, the players didn't seem to know how to break down the high defense.

Basucally, we have no chance against Uraguay.
I will try to minimize the number of goals conceded by adopting a creative new tactic. It may turn out to be a disaster though. It doesn't matter anyway, as Uraguay is simply too strong for us to get even a draw.

good to see you here! Im really happy to have a manager like you in Hong Kong who cares about the HK players to train them!

Welcome!

I'm very happy to see someone post here. In fact, what Hong Kong has to do is to win against weaker and similar ranked teams. Like in yesterday the players outplayed Malta completely for most part of the game and get a deserved win. That's very encouraging.

My next target is to get a draw from russia two weeks later, so next week's match is again used for tactic testing. Does anyone have ideas of what I can test for or how to achieved the goal?

thanks for your support

some rough ideas
is 5-4-1 a possible choice?
the 4 midfield, 2 as DMCs, 2 as wingers, and the forward may lean slighty towards one side to avoid being the Russian DMC
the 2 wingers are for gaining more possession (may be wasting more time as well)
the 2 DMCs are meant for matching up the 2 Russian forwards

i think playing 3 DCs may be necessary as the Russian forwards mainly attack through the middle

That's not a bad idea. We certainly have to play with 5 defenders to avaoid a double-digit scoreline. Having 2 defensive mid is also good. But the problem is that would limit the goal-scoring chances by much. I mean Russia can easily score once or twice which means we also have to score once twice to get a draw. Another problem is that we don't have 2 wingers that are good enough. I'll think the issue over.

In today's match, both the results and the performance of the team was less flattering than against Uraguay. We even nearly got a chance in the opening minutes, but the wing was not covered well enough, and the midfield is not working as exactly what I want. Looks like the tactic needs much more tweaking.

It is really bad to see one of the Hong Kong best defenders get injured. I can just hope the Russian wingers have an off-day in Saturday, as our wing-backs fall shorts to them in every aspect.

what a challenging task you have ...
good luck to HK

lost 0-1. The Russian deserved to win, but the results could have well been 0-0 or 1-1 with some luck.

The goal from the Russian was a joke. I don't know why Ko Kiu didn't go for it, but they deserved to score at least once with their late chances.

And I also don't know why Hiu Kong, who played well in the first half but rubbish in the second, played instead of Siu Chee, maybe I made a mistake.

The whole team plays well in the first 60 minutes until the goals. Since then there was a lot of defensive blunders.

The team should have scored once in the chances in 15-30 minutes, in which Sze Ming screwed a free kick, Wai Kwok made a mess with a one-on-one and took too long to shoot in another chance.

I'm rather disappointed, though I know we didn't have much chance to get a better result.

Yeh, it's a somewhat heart-breaking 1-0 scoreline (if the losing margin was bigger we probably would have felt better perhaps?)

Thanks for the effort.

correct approach, which worked quite well, Almost there!

Ya, pretty good job abcde!
To pity for you that you have to compete against such strong opponents!

Although you are doing pretty well! glad to have you as the NT coach!

So, in these few weeks, we have come across weaker opponent. We got great results even B team is used as we have so many great striker. Now, I am thinking about the match against Russia two weaks later. Anyone have ideas about that one?

Welcome to discuss in either Chinese or English.
