Dear all. I'm Mario 36yrs old (nurse) from Malta married with 1 child. I decided to apply for your NT cause I just saw that your previous coach was banned and thus you need some experience to vote in these last few days of election.

I decided to contest especially since there is no time for error this season as Hong Kong need to get back on track and improve on its results


I am a very committed person and spend a lot of time on the game. As you can see on Malta Forum And Canada Forum I always keep NT up to date and info every week.

My History in sokker:

- NT Coach of Canada managed twice 3rd joint in WCQ group lost only to Goal Difference,

- started in 2007 currently playing in the Malta Premier Division (finished 3rd last season + finalist Malta Cup)

- Won Malta Cup

- Spent 2 years as Nt scout and Database coordinator

- Spent 3 seasons as U21 Malta NT coach reaching the 3 place in the WCQ group. Which was the first and last time reached by Malta until this season

- Spent 7 seasons as Malta Senior NT coach. Taking Malta from Rank 67 to rank 47 eventually leaving Malta at rank 50. Played various times the WCQ groups so I believe that my experience in this will help as well considering that next season we have WCQ matches without any previous planning from the last season as you all know. Moreover Malta achieved some good results against teams that we used to get trashed 12-0 against.

As tactics at the moment since ME is going crazy its very difficult to work with. However, 4 at the back seem to work pretty well, strong def/mid and 2 strikers. I rarely play 1 striker cause i believe better lose 5-3 than 2-0.

If we create we might surprise, if we don't we won't!

I don't have anything more to add. I do know that it will be difficult for me to get elected but I decided to put my candidature.

I want this new challenge after many senior NT experience.

Thanks for the support you are already showing me. I decided to start looking to sort friendlies since I have no idea what Atos has already booked and since most of the NTs already booked friendlies it will be very difficult for us to find teams to play against.

I am keeping the commitment for the Mini WC since I believe it is good for Hong Kong to test the team.

If for some reason I will not get elected, I will leave you the list for the friendlies so the coach who is elected has everything already in place.

managed to get some info of the friendlies Atos already agreed and will be keeping them so we wont confuse other NTs. Few games to be sorted and list will be ready/ Hopefully we will finalize it tonight or tomorrow.

Yes AdrianoG Noted Thanks a lot. We will keep that tournament entry cause that is good. Managed to trace more friendlies Atos has arranged.

We are pot 4 in the Mini WC Draws. We will obviously get 3 teams better than us but we will be the underdogs and that can work in our favour.

First Match against Cameroon booked. We will use such game to see where we are. I am not expecting miracles in the first game but looking for a positive result still.

Hi friends,

tomorrow we will start our new adventure. We will play a friendly match against Cameroon. The first is not easy since I dont know well the players, however I hope that we cans still perform well ideally getting something out of the match.

The Mini WC draw show us against Scotland, Ireland and Armenia. It is a very difficult group and will be very difficult to get something out of it, but I will try my best. We have nothing to lose, others have.

Cameroon vs HONG KONG - FRIENDLY MATCH - Kick off 14:00 SK time

As previously said, today we will be playing our first friendly match under my management against Cameroon.

We played Cameroon last season during the WCQ under the previous coach and the game ended up 0-0.

It was very difficult to get updated players and that is definitely my next priority to get the Database up to date.

I prepared a new tactic and there will be some changes even in player selection from the previous team.

I hope we perform well since we do have some players with extremely low form but seems to be a general problem at the moment.

Cameroon 4 - HONG KONG 3 Friendly Match

Let say it was not the best start. We lost 4-3 despite them playing almost all game in 10. Very disappointed with defenders we have. They lose the ball so easily and stupidly. Attack was quite ok.

Tactic obviously needs fine tuning. At some interrupted stages we saw some good play by our players but we need form in the mid cause we are lacking so much players there.

This was our first outing so we expect this but we need to work more on some movements and will fine tune that.

We had some positives too but we left Cameroon too much chances and I will mainly concentrate on closing more the defence.

Next week we will start our Mini WC. Our first game vs scotland is going to be extremely difficult since they are much more better than us. Hopefully we will limit the damages and improve drasticcaly on our performance.
