It's not about who invented the shot, it is about the way it was done (acurracy, speed, situation in match, where was enemy) and as such it would also be under the best shots in tennis history. If it was the best or not is just a matter of taste I guess and nothing you can evaluate objectivly. If someone in sokker makes a great shot on goal, then we also do not argue about "who invented" that shot but about how it was done, accuracy speed etc ;)

No, you don't get what I mean, the only thing that makes it special it is that is GS semi-final(I don't remember if some1 made in a GS semifinal), but the shot it self isn't better than many of those with better accuracy and and in worse position of the defending player to make such diffcult shot, and made it a winner, many player do that every year. About who invented it was just throwing some informaion, and letting Terrier know that that shots is really old, and many players have done it in worse positions and with the same accuracy and in very important matches.

Btw, Roger it's whining to much in this game, and the umpire is letting him to get a away with everything.

Look at this 1 for example, made by Juan Monaco, it was in a worse position to do it and with his opponent ebtter positioned to receive it:

In the presentation of Mercedes Benz play of the week you can also see another one much much better than Roger's and Juan Monaco's, but I don't really get to see who achieved it.

Afaik noone wrote it was the greatest shot ever, Feder said it was the greatest shot HE ever did...

Del Potro up 3-0 in the 5th set. Is he going to sneak it?
2009-09-15 02:08:30
Yes that's true, but the Youtube vid is called "Roger Federer best shot in tennis history", which I think is what Juangunner is objecting to...
2009-09-15 02:22:33
well.. best shot is always subjective, just like best goal in soccer, greatest painting in arts and best looking girl of the world. ^^
I would like to compare the speed of the two shots directly but because the vid is laggy it does not work :(

Yeah!!!!! Aguante Delpo!!!!!! US Open Champion!!!!! What a Game!!!! Guillermo Vilas in 1977 and now Juan Martin Del Potro!!!!!

Damn:(
I wish Federer won:/...

All those videos you have shown prove YOU absolutley wrong. All those are made by players who I almost don't recognize and the Matches and Games and Score are NEVER compareable to what Roger did. It was The Best shot in Tennis history. Don't argue please :)
In the Semis of US, final game, deciding point to break Djokovic's (world #4) serve. You will never find a video to beat that ;)

Canas, Gonzalez, Ancic, Ferrero, Ljubicic
8-5-7-1-3, their top rankings, looks like you havent heard about anyone except current top five, Federers shot was nice but it was nowhere near best...

That tells a lot about you and absolutely nothing about those players or the quality of their shots. Juangunner is absolutely right - this is statistically unprobable to be the greatest shot ever, but considering the context in which the shot was delivered, it was nice of Federer to do it at a crucial point in the semifinal of the US Open :-)

Del Potro is the next big thing... awsome win :D
