Hello Poland! I write previews for the Belgian national sokkerteam, and because this is the World Cup, I translate them to English.
The first part is evidently about the match, the second about Belgium, the third is the translation of the text I wrote about Poland on sokker België, the fourth about our Belgian NT-crew! Underlined words are links to photos or sokkerpages, as you already understood.
We start immediately with a big match: the world champion versus the vice-world champion. However, our NT-coach Maqoma likes a challenge from time to time… He has to manage without injured Quinten Vannuten and Pol Mees. Mees is banned, by the way.
His Polish opponent Shadow has done some crazy things, but selected for the World Championshit a decent squad. Naming the best Polish players is quite useless, because they are all way to good…
What result we must aim for? Losing not too hard, I presume.
BELGIUM
Belgium is situated in Western Europe. Our neighbouring countries are The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and France.
Some pictures from Belgium: our capital Brussels, where you can see the Atomium. Other cities are Antwerp, Gent, Brugge (the Venice of the North!), Liège, Hasselt,… Leuven is famous for it’s university, Spa for its health resort. In Waterloo, Napoleon lost his final battle.
Some famous Belgians: Albert II is our king, Jean-Claude Van Damme plays in Hollywood, singing artists are Arno, Axelle Red, Milk Inc, Praga Khan, Eddy Wally, La Esterella,…
Not to forget Tintin and Hercule Poirot! And off course the… Smerfy!
Belgium is a small country, but has had great athletes! Justine Henin is still playing tennis, Kim Clijsters went on early retirement, Eddy Merckx was the best cyclist ever, Tom Boonen will possibly win the green jersey, Stefan Everts was probably the best motorcyclist ever. And we never lost a football match against Poland on a World Cup, certainly not in 1982, absolutely not with 0-3, and the goalie was absolutely not Theo Custers!
In 2002, the World Championship Cycling was held in Heusden-Zolder. Cipollini won. F1-races were organised on this same Circuit Terlaemen until 1984. Niki Lauda won twice, Gilles Villeneuve had his fatal accident on this circuit.
Of course, we like to eat! No pancakes with spinach and sausage, but typical Belgian things like french fries, Belgian chocolate, Brussels’ sprouts, endive,…
POLAND
Poland is situated in western Eastern-Europa. When we Belgians did a revolution in 1830 against The Netherlands, de Russians wanted to suppress us. Fortunately, the troops of Nicholas I were stopped by a Polish revolution… Thank you, Poland!

Famous Polish athletes are cyclist Zenon Jaskula (according the legends, he ate glass) and football players as Grzegorz Lato, Marcin Wasilewski, Emmanuel Olisadebe, Tomasz Romaniuk (who once pulled at the ear of referee Allaerts)…
