Subject: World Cup Qualifications

langhe to All
I think I already mentionned it in the INDO NEWS topic, but as this event will take place during the whole season, I think we should open a new topic about it.
To start, I opened a little poll where you can guess what position Indonesia will have taken after the 10 games :)

Group
Positionned on the 61th spot, Indonesia was put in the 5th seeding pot. We were seeded in Group I. This is the group:
Team Matches Won Draw Loss GD* Points
1. Hrvatska 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
2. Brasil 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
3. Australia 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
4. Uruguay 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
5. Indonesia 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
6. Andorra 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
(*) GD = Goal Difference
Indonesia was unlucky with the draw. None of the 2 new nations (Tunis and Cameroun) who were in the 3rd seeding pot were drawn in the same group as Indonesia. Also, due to these 2 new nations, nations with less than 1600 ranking points were pushed downwards by 2 spots, thus pushing some nations from 3rd to 4th seeding pot and so on ... This way Uruguay became part of the 4th seeding pot.
Only the first 2 teams qualify directly for the World Cup itself and some 3rd spots as well.
Below are the current rankings of the NTs of group I (+ranking points):
11 Hrvatska 2493.62
22 Brasil 2167.42
29 Australia 1965.39
43 Uruguay 1450.03
61 Indonesia 1042.59
76 Andorra 786.51

Matches
Round 1: Andorra - Indonesia
Round 2: Indonesia - Brasil
Round 3: Hrvatska - Indonesia
Round 4: Indonesia - Australia
Round 5: Uruguay - Indonesia
Round 6: Indonesia - Uruguay
Round 7: Australia - Indonesia
Round 8: Indonesia - Hrvatska
Round 9: Brasil - Indonesia
Round 10: Indonesia - Andorra
Between some of the matches are free weeks, during which the NT coach can play friendlies.

History + Previous encounters
During its existence on sokker, the National Team of Indonesia has never qualified for the World Cup. Probably this statement will last for some more seasons, but it is a problem all 'smaller' nations have to deal with.
Are there any teams of our Group I the Indonesian Team has already met during WCQ or just friendly games? Let's have a look.
06/01/2007 - Indonesia vs Andorra - Friendly - 2:3 (Indonesian goals: 2x Suheri)
15/09/2007 - Andorra vs Indonesia - Friendly - 0:2 (Indonesian goals: Krisdjianto, Kurniawan)
03/11/2007 - Indonesia vs Uruguay - WCQ (2 seasons ago) - 0:7
26/01/2007 - Uruguay vs Indonesia - WCQ (2 seasons ago) - 3:0

Anyway, tomorrow at 12 o clock (sk time) we play in Andorra. Tactics are created and set. As I do not think the Andorra coach ever looks on the forums, I give the names here.

5 minutes to go. Suheri will drop in on minute 60 or 75 for Tagor (just added it)
Hope he can force something with his pace against tired defenders (even with his low form ...)

good luck

1-1 ... a HORRIBLE match ... Passing was crap, the decission whom to pass to was crap ...
Tactic was made to create long balls to the forwards ... have hardly seen any ...

wow they only have 9 users but managed to build a NT team to draw with us...

to be honest im disappointed with the result considering we seems to have more quality in players and their tactic seems pretty standard...

oh well...

We all are ... :(
But their defense is even better than ours, and our defense is the best part of the team ... :s

They have a tough defence + Krisj and Suheri are still in a crappy form, so we can't play with our full squad :(

Other results:
Groep I
Brasil 2 : 2 Hrvatska
Uruguay 1 : 3 Australia

Tomorrow Indonesia faces Brasil. Our only hope is that they are still dizzy from their jetlag. With an average value over 1M euro (thats 10M in your currency) they beat our average value easily. Brasil is currently ranked 18th and has taken a good option to qualify for the WC by drawing against Hrvatska (ranked 10th).
Taking a point would be a miracle, and my main objective is to get less than 8 goals against (currently 7-0 was our worst result, and I want to keep it that way). This doesn't mean I'll play 5 defenders and 5 defensive midfielders of course, but don't expect a 343 formation ;) On our side there aren't any suspended players and the only serious injured player is Roekita. Forms of Suhilo and Arief are still low, which is a shame, because they would have been players who could force something for us in an offensive way. After this game, there is a break of 1 week during which we play a friendly match against South Africa, so let us hope that important players pick up their 3rd red card during the game against Brasil if they really want to take a yellow card this season :p
Tactics are set, team and orders are almost set (still need to discuss some things with my assistants)

edit: rating compares: 67.9 Brasil vs. 50.8 Indonesia

Well, we were luck they hit the bar that much.
Some explanation about the tactics and player selection. Let's start with the tactics. I didn't have any idea if they'd use wingers or not (new coach), but as Brasil has great strikers, I fielded lots of defensive players. Idea was that one could tackle the ball and the other one could kick it away. Thus I fielded 5 defenders with 2 defensive mids with quite some defense. Also I put a faster player next to a slower one, meaning that the slower one tackles and the fast one is first on the ball to kick it away. The 2 central midfielders and striker were placed for the counter, basically by attacking on the right wing (check the running lines) . Striker a bit aside, to escape the central defenders (who are most of the time the best defenders). I started with Tagor as attacker, because he is as fast as Iswantoro, but has some levels more striking. So I hoped that he could score a goal when we had a freekick, but Kartiko wasnt accurate with his passing. Iswantoro came in after 65 minutes to force something with his pace/technique combination. I hoped their defenders would be tired enough to force some chances. If you watch the game, you'll see that he dribbles 2 defenders, but the tackle was just accurate enought to make the GK being on the ball a second earlier than Iswadi. Other substitutions were only for stamina reasons :)

You wanted less than 8 goals so nice result :)

Nice ratings too, formidable defending and solid passing.

Keep it up and you'll climb up the group :)
