Axpers, I put myself on the candidate list again. I'd be happy to continue coaching your national team :) I'm eager for the next qualifiers - my goal is to take this team to the World Cup sooner or later. Whether I'll make it or not, I'll give my best! It depends a lot on the draw as well.

I will write a short season review probably tomorrow.

Another successful season comes to an end. We started with tight losses against the good teams of USA and Schweiz. 4 losses in total so far, all against teams that are well ahead of us in the world ranking. In the rest of the games there were 8 victories (against Slovenija, Belarus, South Africa, Indonesia, Ireland, Honduras, New Zealand and Moldova) and one draw against Venezuela that cleared the path to rank 40. So we managed to get in pot 3 for the World Cup qualifiers easily. The team is looking good, we're not dependent on very old stars. Tamanyan still got some games when in top form, but he can be replaced by younger players like Ishtoyan and Charikyan.

I'm quite satisfied with this season. Hopefully I can end it positively, although I may give one or another player rest as the big WCQ matches are ahead! Thanks for your support axpers :)

Hayastan - Ísland 4:2

Proof we can still win without Kalenyan. I didn't want to play him short before the WCQ. Papyan did a good job here. Overall we dominated the game. Since Iceland was super-efficient, the match stayed exciting. But in the end, we took the deserved win. At the moment squad strength and form is looking good.

Our WCQ-group:

1. Bulgaria
2. Moldova
3. Hayastan
4. Slovenija
5. Nippon
6. Sénégal

Bulgaria has improved a lot in the past seasons and played a good World Cup. Perhaps not unbeatable, but they can hit 80s mark as well. Every team from pot 1 is very strong.
Moldova: Could have been worse opponents from pot 2. We have beaten them lately, but it will require great efforts to do so again. If we manage to do it, we have good chances to qualify.
Slovenija: Dangerous opponent, as I know their coach is good and was unlucky this season. Else this team would be better ranked. Similar quality as our team, these will be hard matches.
Nippon and Senegal have improved as well. There is no cannon fodder anymore. But here 12 points are a must if we want to go to the World Cup.

Scotland 2 - 1 Hayastan

Again some of our key players out of duty. It was a balanced match, both teams had a couple of chances. Scotland scored once more, it happens. Better we save our luck for the qualifiers :) Artiom Zorunts gave his debut, but he could not convince me, lost many balls. Almost equally bad played Sanasaryan, e.g. giving away the second goal.

Next week the WCQ starts against Slovenija, then we have to perform on top level!

Slovenija - Hayastan 0:1

Successful start to the campaign against a tough opponent :) We could have decided the game in the first 15 minutes, but wasted some good chances. It was a great display from our "magic triangle" Darbinyan-Malkhasyan-Kalenyan. We dominated the first half, after the break Slovenija got better but still we had the edge. Finally Kalenyan provided the goal after a beautifully played attack.

Meanwhile Moldova beat Bulgaria, which is probably not a good result for us. But Bulgaria is our next opponent and they are under pressure now. Let's see if we can make a sursprise against this top team.

Those are good MIDs for their age and will help in the future :) But at the moment they just not yet good enough for NT.

They might join the squad for next week's U27 game though.
