Hayastan - Norge 3:1
This weekend we had a great game against Norge. Finally a win against a top shot opponent (former world champion) and finally (for me) a win against Norge after 5 or so failed attempts with Schweiz, Shqipëria and Hayastan. Result is absolutely deserved I think, we did a lot of pressure over our wing side and Kalenyan was always dangerous.

And I filled in my candidature again. If you're still satisfied with me I'm happy to get your confidence :) You can vote here I think it was a decent campaign with 20 points. Our bad that Moldova won twice against Bulgaria, else they would have been behind us. Ranking-wise over the 4 seasons I've been here we have improved from 54 to 37 at the moment, which is great. Who knows, with really good efforts in the upcoming friendly season we might aim for the second pot (top 32). It's rather hard though, in terms of strength we're more somewhere in the 40s I guess.

Hayastan - Scotland 0:4
Pretty harsh defeat looking at the shots.. however deserved I think. I didn't come to watch the match yet. I was fairly busy with getting player updates, so I didn't manage to analyse Scotland really. I pulled out a tactic I created some weeks ago and couldn't test so far, obviously it didn't really work as I hoped :) Last friendly of this season now against Portugal.

I'm planning the schedule for this season. So far I can tell that it will be a tough one, with strong opponents. For example this week we'll meet Colombia. After that, we will also take part in the Mini World Cup.

Colombia - Hayastan 2:1
We pretty much got robbed here. More chances and some really decent one's, but it was not the day of Kalenyan. Our tactics, first and second, were a lot better than Colombia's I felt. The high passes to their wing were from another planet though, as well as the laser header to the 2:0. Well, hopefully we save our luck for the Mini WC.

Hayastan - Rossiya 2:4
Obviously not. Again tough luck against a better team. I think we were not worse and deserved a draw. But our main problem currently are defenders, most of them are out of form. This was obvious today, we hardly were able to stop any opponent striker or midfielder. This shows us that we're still pretty far from being a top nation. Probably no chance to go through in the Mini WC now.

I'm getting cynical.
Last week we didn't manage to beat Nippon (3:3) despite of 21:3 shots. Absolutely ridiculous. Today Bolivia couldn't hold our U28 agreement, so we went down with pretty much no chance. What an unlucky and disappointing season so far. :(

Schweiz - Hayastan 0:4
After some tough weeks we're back with a whopping win against my home country! The much needed luck finally found back to us in this game. A superb start by an efficient Kalenyan set up the basis for this victory. In the second half, Piloyan did well to keep the clean sheet. I hope our negative trend is stopped now. Although the next games will be even more difficult.. next stop is Norge.

A match with few chances. We started off really well, but then Norge was better, although did not have many chances either. Bit of a pity we coulnd't get at least a draw here.

Again, good defense. It was a balanced game. Latvia's wingers played stupid, otherwise they might have scored as well. Not an undeserved win though. Kalenyan wasted a few chances overall but scored after a corner kick.

Almost as usual we started well, although the quality of our players was nowhere near the one of France in this U27 game. Telunts did a great job at front. Focus was on keeping a solid defense. It didn't work too bad, France had mostly headers. In the end we got lucky with a goal by Nazaretsyan that brought us the draw.

Tough game against our neighbours and rivals from Turkey, especially with Darbinyan and Malkhasyan injured. I tried a new tactic, but it didn't quite work as I hoped. Still we could force the opponent to headers and long shots, while we had some dangerous 1vs1 situations. Shame we couldn't hold on to the lead or at least to the draw. Although shot statistic looks horribly I think we could have got a draw with some luck.
This matches showed that we're not quite on the top level (yet?). More difficult challenges coming up now towards the end of the season, with the likes as Rossiya, Österreich or Bosnia! It's gonna be interesting :)

Alen Gichunts was called back into the team as a substitute for the injured Malkhasyan. It paid off straight away with 3 assists. :) Efficient display by Kalenyan as well. In the end a deserved win, although a bit too high, considering we were lucky their wing got a red card.
Argentina - Hayastan 3:0
This time a rather disappointing performance by Gichtungs. Tactic did not really work, still we managed to keep the shot ratio fairly even. Argentina had the better day though, and the loss is ok by how the game went.
Österreich - Hayastan 1:1
This time a rather early red card against us, but even without Kalenyan we kept the match balanced and had as much good chances as the Austrians had. Bit of a pity that Kalenyan coulnd't score with one of the two 1vs1s in the last minutes, but 1:1 is an absolutely fair result.
Next Saturday will be the drawing of the next WCQ, I'm willing to give it another try and hope for a good draw. We're comfortably in pot 3, stabilised around rank 40. We just lack a little class to push further forward.

Thanks mate. It was a season with up and downs. The overall level of our opponents was pretty high though, so I'm not unhappy :)
Bosna i Hercegovina - Hayastan 0:0
Decent performance by our U27 against a team ~10 points stronger :D Our defensive formation worked well enough. In the beginning we struggled a bit, but the longer the game went the better we became. We needed a strong Narshakyan to keep the clean sheet, although we had a few counter-attacks too. Very nice result! :)

Srbija was our opponent 4 seasons ago already, we got at least a draw there. Tough team though. Sverige is a bit weaker quality-wise, but they have a decent coach. High obstaceles to overcome if we want to play at the World Cup. Also Andorra and Hongkong will not be beaten easily, they have similar team strengths like us. Against Dominicana we should normally collect 6 points and U.A.E. won't gather many points in this group at all.
By the way Jora Nigoghosyan is on TL. With some pm/pass training he can still become a nice mid!
