Sorry for not having posted here axpers.. it has been two busy weeks! We dropped out of the WC against England with 2-5 defeat. I thought the result was a bit harsh. Our first tactic didn't deserve to lose the first half 0-5 while the second didn't deserve to win the second half 2-0, but that's Sokker. All in all, England was the better team though. In the quarterfinal, they trashed Serbia 6-1!
Meanwhile, we lost to France, another strong nation, with 1-4. Haven't come round to watch the game.. it looks we didn't play that badly.
Now I'm off for a study trip / holiday for about 3 weeks. I will try to set matches and line ups as good as possible. Luckily we are not in the WC final, or I'd have had to cancel it :D

I'm back from my holidays. I'm sorry that we couldn't play more matches in the mean time, but my internet connection was not very regular. The team welcomed me with a great performance today against Israel. We completely dominated the first half and got a deserved 3-1 lead from that. After the break not much happened and we brought the victory home easily. An important success to stay in the top 32.
Also I'd like to announce that I won't continue as coach next season. I think we had great 6 seasons together. I saw a great team growing to it's peak at the moment, with the reward of the first World Cup participation and even passing the group stage there. England won by the way, so at least we lost to the champions :) A promising team will be handed over to the next coach. On every position we have a good mix of old, still reliable performers like Kalenyan, Darbinyan, Manasyan, A.Malkhasyan&A.Malkhasyan, Takvonyan and fresh blood or top stars in best age like Babanyan, Charikyan, Keresteyjan, Izanyan, Asatryan. And hopefully we'll start in the second pot for the new qualifiers, I'll do my best for that.
For me it's time to move on to another challenge or even take a break from NT coaching. I will see. But Hayastan will be in my heart and I hope in good hands also in the future :)
But it's not over yet! Next week our opponent will be Magyarország!

Very important win! Perhaps we got a bit lucky in the second half, but I think since we played most of the time one man down, not completely undeserved. Excellent start in the first half despite the red card, Nobaryan superefficient with 3/3. After the break a strong hungarian side found more play, but we still had the occasional counter-attack as well. If we don't screw the next match against Lietuva completely then this should secure us the second pot I hope :)

Lietuva - Hayastan 5:1
Ridiculous result, we were at least equal if not the better side for most of the match. Only in the last 15 minutes we got in trouble due to a red card against Izanyan. Enough for Lietuva to score four more goals.
But what's important: we remained in the top 30 so the next qualifier can be started from the second pot :)

Hayastan - Hrvatska 1:2
It's a deserved win by Hrvatska. We couldn't play Venezuela as planned because they're involved in the South American Copa. Hrvatska is a lot tougher of course. Our performance wasn't too bad, but the line-up (U28) and the match clearly showed the issues of the future squad. Strikers are ok, MIDs are excellent but we have problems with defenders. I had to call up Jebelyan who hasn't even divine defending, and also Levyan played as wingback, far from top form.
Next week my final game here against Latvija. We'll play U27 and I hope I can leave with a last victory. :)

But with the injuries of Kerestejyan and Izanyan and the limited U27 player pool I was in a hurry yesterday to revise line-up and tactics. Went for a 4-3-3 but the strikers in this tactic were placed way too low. So we couldn't really create many good chances and ran in a lot of counter-attacks. Well, so be it. Better save the wins for next season ;)
