Subject: »7170 managers in Sokker!

no problem :P

There has been some cleaning so nothing to worry about on this moment.

I think something important we have to remember is that the number of managers has grown rapidly after a promotion stunt, which proves that promotion is very important to get new managers to the game. A few % will continue to play, but that's more as before that promotion stunt.

In another game (a qute new one, a rugby one), the Dev show the users that are active in the last 7 days... I think, it is the most accurate choice to know how "active" users are in a game...

For me the number of managers isn't even that important.. I care more about the quality of the game and the quality of the people playing it..

First thing I noticed is less quality in the people playing it because many experienced users already quit through the years due to many different reasons.. and it's a pity because there are no new (active) users taking their place..

Now with this new ME I feel like we hit a second major change in the game.. One that decreases the quality since I for one always enjoyed making a decent tactic to counter another and nowadays your players just act too unpredictable to count on them doing their jobs.. I don't know but how can you make a tactic when you can't predict the behaviour of your players? Impossible..

Anyway.. sokker should have capitalized on their initial success years ago.. when every country was rapidly growing in size and actually making an effort to promote this game.. THEN they should have cared about making this game huge. Not now when so many people tried it already and quit.. Those people are not going to try it again.. I don't mean to be the pessimist, I'm merely being realistic.. It's too late to make this game big.. The devs had their window of opportunity to make this game the best soccer manager and kick hattrick's ass but they slammed that window shut by not being professional, bad communication, not changing layout, letting newly registered users wait too long for their teams.. The result of this last thing is that a whole lot of teams were created and that they never even logged in because it took too long.. Creating an enormous amount of botteams and therefore ruining the game for those who had more patience and ended up with almost all bots in their league.. I mean, those are big mistakes to make when you're growing and this is the result... Glory days are gone..

Imo, they should focus on the users that are still playing.. that have been buying plus for all those years because if they lose them.. which they are doing imo.. then they are hurting themselves even more.. New users might come and play but how many of those will buy plus? Some might.. after a couple of seasons..

Anyway.. I wish everyone who still has the energy to promote sokker the best of luck but I doubt it will change much..

Peace :)

...so true

You and I almost can't disagree more :/

Apart from a few things I do agree with, all other is a lot of pessimism, and not realism as you call it. It's absolutely never to late to change things around again. And to look back and talk about the past as if that where the golden times and during those times things could have went in a different direction is not important anymore, only the present and future counts. Look for possibilities, not impossibilities, that's the only way forwards. And to hope things will change isn't the right way forwards because then it seems if we really have no influence on it, but we do if we act on it by for example promoting Sokker. New managers can only take over the places of experienced managers who quit Sokker if they first get to know this game and start playing it.

To keep new managers on Sokker is a different subject which is up to the DEVs to change things like an ingame tutorial or something like that, instead of the weak and messy tutorial they get send to at the moment.

To end with a nice quote:

It always seems impossible until its done.
Nelson Mandela

And many more can be used, but the one of Nelson Mandela is really great.

Could be a nice idea :) As long as the numbers aren't shockingly low, because then it could work against Sokker.

Yeah well.. You might not agree with me but then again, you never agree unless someone is praising sokker ;) I'll just assume I'm right unless I have a whole bunch of oldschool users telling me I'm wrong..

and about those tutorials.. they are overrated.. I mean it's good they exist and I'm sure a lot of new users find them helpful but don't forget we didn't have any when we started playing this game.. Hell, there wasn't even a newbie forum.. The only way back then you could learn something was to ask some polish users.. guys like Luban or Toprano.. (for me personally) I don't even know if they still play this game.. Probably not.. But anyway.. What I'm trying to say is that we didn't have any help and a lot kept playing anyway..
Therefor I don't think that the difficulty of this game is the reason why new users are not staying.. They have all the help in the world these days.. mentors, newbie forum, tutorials, .. So much information! maybe too much information! ;) Also, I guess topics with over a 1000 posts are kinda scary for any newbie trying to find some info.. they must be like.. wtf, this is madness! :O hehe.

IMO if greg&damian decided that they want to make sokker global...they should abandon sokker and start with a new project.

With 3d from the beginning, not much bugs, already consolidated system of youth school, training, tactics

Different name, different [much different...] layout and they would have a chance for success, even huge one.
2012-08-23 18:02:37
That's even more drastic as I suggested :P But yes, sometimes even that's the best way forward. And maybe not abandon Sokker, but kept it as it was without any new implementations and start a 'new' game (+ name and site) which could have been fully based on the new 3D engine and put all effort in that new game. 2 games in the market of online soccer manager games would not have been a bad idea :)

Anyway, the DEVs decided to do it the way it's done right now.

They can also keep all the history and userbase and do it still, that's what they should focus on. Why give up thousands and thousands of active players and start all over?

Just use same data already there and system and remake.

All those menus on every side and doubling on bottom (at least on the "designer" skin) is just bad. Consistency is important, also looking new and "hip" :D

They do not need to invent a whole new game.
Basically they should become more userfriendly in terms of layout, keeping new users, communication and all that other stuff discussed a thousand times.
Then acknowledge that we live in a capitalistic world and get some funds to advertise the game properly as well as work together with websites where a lot of ppl are.

of course +1

I don't want to make totally new team :/

Maybe I need to explain why (in my opinion) they should start from beginning, with a 'new' game:

1. people who tried sokker and didn't like it most probably won't try again. on the other hand when they will hear about a NEW manager game, that has 3D for free etc. they will most probably try it the moment they hear about it.

2. there will be no 'why should I play this game, there's too much difference between me and those at the top...it will take me 6-7 years to win anything' problem. new game = equal chances

3. there will be no 'it was better 3 years ago...' crying

4. they would start like a new game, that is FROM BEGINNING fully functional - which would be amazing for those, who wouldn't know that it's sokker

as for current users, do you think that they won't register in the 'new' game? maybe the top-top managers wouldn't, although Vilpu is an example that starting from beginning is a lot of fun

also, by 'abandoning' sokker I meant just letting it be, without much changes

the 'new' game would actually be the same game, though looking differently and 'reseted' in a way
