Vista is just wierd. I had already copied my Sokker Manager 3.05 to my Vista machine. Had no problems.

Description of what it did to me when I upgraded to 3.1:

Vista must have some crazy ass program cache because it was hell to simply over write 3.05 with 3.1. I copied 3.1 into the directory and it successfully copied over 3.05. But when I opened up the new file, it still showed up as being 3.05 and did not prompt me to do the database upgrade as it should have done. Honestly though, I think the new lineup tool was on the screen. But I didn't click anything due to the version clearly still saying 3.05.

Things I tried:

I tried to restart the computer, didn't work. I tried redownloading and copying the new download over the first one. Still showed 3.05.

What worked:

So finally I decided to create an entire new folder and copy the exact contents of the Sokker Manager folder into it. As soon as I did that. The copy of the program started right up as 3.1 and asked me if I wanted to upgrade the DB. But now there is a problem because the settings in Sokker Manager that tell the program where the xml files are stored was off. So I had to change that setting and restart 3.1 in order to finally have it 100% operational.

Another Vista note:

I actually had to download the zip file 4 times. The first two times I tried saving it directly into the Program Files directory. But I would go there and it would be gone. But every time I would download a new copy, I could see the old one in the download dialog box. To make a long story short, I ended up downloading it to the desktop. For some reason it liked it there. I was able to then extract the contents into the Program Files directory.

Thank you Vista for making life EASIER.

...ok...well...I followed your tips Billy, and got it to work after loading. it doesn't have any of the old data...junior pops or player pops. training schedule is gone, too. anyone know if that will come back later? other than that, it seems to be updated and working just fine....in spite of evil Vista...

the lineup tool is interesting...i'll have to experiment though. when i ran it as is, it said a guy rated excellent at pm, weak at defender and hopeless at striker should be a striker, and another guy who is poor at defender, good at pm and very good at striker should be a defender. got to admit it didn't make any sense to me...:)

the lineup tool needs you to set priorities. If you prioritize mids, it will put the mids first, and then if 2nd is defense it'll grab the best remaining defenders.

If the last thing you tell it to look at is strikers, it'll grab the best remaining player as a striker.

If you know you want to use a player in a certain position, lock him into that position.

Did you copy your "Sokker Manager Data.mdb" file into the same directory you just created?

If you didn't, and are using the blank database, that's why it's empty...
2007-12-12 18:55:46
yeah...that lineup tool looks promising. Nice work, by the way. I'll just have to experiment a bit.

I thought I had the old mdb file in there. i'll check it again later. thanks for the tip!

Im having a problem as well,

When I try to import data, it gets to the XML stage then gives the following message.

2007-12-12 22:19:12
it is having problems downloading the data. I can't tell you what the vista error is, sorry.

Reboot and try again? Shrug.

with two people having basically the same error within that close a period, i'd think mebbe there was a problem with the XML server on Sokker itself. Try again plz, it works for me so it seems up now.

Its not to do with the fact we both have _ in our names?
