Subject: question

2008-01-12 13:14:16
There is written in french on the first page this think: " join the aboard 55000 members". We are today 52 000 players. Don't you think that we have to do something. We were more than 55 000 members 2 months ago, what's happening during this time??
I want to know if everybody agree me the fact that we have to make this game, the game where all members want to keep his membership. A lot of people come and stay like 1/2 months and after they don't come again, also the team is lokked.
Is there possible to have more informations about what the 3 creators want to do for the futur, in order to know that tha aventure will be continuing.

Thanks for all of your answers.

Bye.
Kourschak from France.

Devs are putting much efforts in promoting and I've seen the number of Dutch users growing pretty fast. I think it's because of the keywords we (the translators) added to get Sokker on the first page of Google.

The reason the number decreased probably is because a lot of inactive users were cleaned.
2008-01-12 14:13:00
I think that with the new design the number of users will rapidly increase.
2008-01-12 14:20:13
I don't think that this is the only one way to increase the numbre of player. I love this game, i spend a lot of team on it, for me the design is not a problem. I think that people dos not accept for the moment another game like that, HT's for the moment to big, we had to make something to catch a lot of members, not to do publicity, but to inform and help the new player coming from HT that this game is better and that they have to wait before growing there interest for sokker. First, i were not so interesting, but with time i love better this game that the other.
I'm true or i'm saying lot of stupid think?

When the design is more attractive less people will leave after signing up and more will find it interesting from the beginning.

Don't worry about Hattrick: Sokker is a better game and the people who see that will come to Sokker.

Publicity is very important, since we added keywords so that Sokker would more easily be found, the Dutch community grew rapidly. The advertisements are there to attract more people. The advertisements on Sokker have to bring in money so that the devs can pay for advertisements on Google. It's some kind of exchange project.

1. FIND
2, MAKE INTERESTED
3. KEEP

1. FIND
Yes, Google and such.

2. MAKE INTERESTED.
When the design is more attractive less people will leave after signing up and more will find it interesting from the beginning.
Well. Strategic players in average bothers much less of design than action game players, but navigating and handling are much important for the fiting player type as well as information of course.
So a good design can have some effects of SIGNING,
BUT NOT any biger importance concerning STAYING,
so DON'T have big expectations at new design, IF it don't include the very good idea someone had
=SHOW the much better Match, with some example match, and do it in the ARRIVING page.

Main things to make people start playing are:
/Above told match showing.
/TELL the ADVANTAGES in the arriving page.
/Some information/handling has to be improoved. I think mainly of making it easier to make own tactics.
/(And change to a realistic Training system ;-)

3. KEEP
>Kourschak It's expected rather many of the NEW one leaves, because they will if they are not "strategic players" enough to have the needed patience. This is a personality thing, so this CAN'T Sokker do much about except making "minimum" patience needed for this type of game. But it CAN be better by for instance making the tactics handling much easier.

Some have also left by Sokker things, which can be very annoying. Some have spend much time in developing his club, and then they for instance miss a promotion chance by loose on WO, or loose a lot of money, after being FOOLED by the handling. An other thing can be horrible moderating... Theese things can of course Sokker make much better.

With point 2 I disagree with you. A good design is very important for the first couple of days/weeks you play a game. When you don't know a game and don't know your way yet a bad design may be very annoying and it may be final step to leaving the game. I'm speaking out of own experience as I left many games after a couple of days because of the bad design.

Strategic players also care about design. They will faster choose a game that looks good than a bad looking game.

I'm expecting much of the design cause I see it as the final touch of the improvements the devs are currently making: the new scripts, Google keywords, Google ads and the planned design. Much people are currently waiting for the new design to start promotion campaigns.

I forgot the third point and I agree with you about that. Improving the interface is a good way to keep people interested in the game.

Well. "Design" involves TWO types of things:
/USEABILITY.
I WROTE
navigating and handling are much important
but you managed to jump that... ;-)

/Nice LOOK (=Color, images and stuff. =What many mean with "Design".)
This strategic players in average bothers MUCH LESS of. There have been a lot of - also popular - strategic game releases during the years, with much bader look than the same aged action games.
And IF you where corect, then we obviously WOULDN'T have Sokker as the BEST soccer manager game ;-)
2008-01-12 16:41:51
"This strategic players in average bothers MUCH LESS of."

Still we would be able to attract more of them;)

If you don't know two games you'll first choose the best looking one.
2008-01-12 19:19:53
You are talking about ACTION game player type, and they will not have patience to stay anyway, so they better NOT start, because their teams will become bot anyway,
while STRATEGIC game player type wonder mainly if it's a GOOD STRATEGIC GAME.
=If showing in arriving page a match, and tell about the tactic possibilities, and have good navigation and such,
then strategic game players almost DON'T BOTHER the site has throw up green color or such ;-)

Or why otherwice are the forum questions, about other strategic games, NOT about good looking design,
but about things making the game in question a good/bad strategic game? ;-)
2008-01-12 21:07:36
Thanks for all your answers, i think that a lot of people is interesting to make this game a nice and popular game, that's important for me. I repeat that i'm very love by this game. I will follow all what can happening for next devs and will stay a long long long... time. Be sure that the devs have good ideas.
We have to make a new member, a member for the rest of his life...

Bye

I'm not specifically talking about action games, but about all kind of games. For people who don't your game the most important thing how does it look like. That can be improved by an improved skin, but also, like you suggested, by demonstrating the strong points of the game. The last option, however, does not exclude the first option.

Regarding your question:

Only people who like or dislike the game are bothered to answer the question. If they can't bring up the mood to try it they won't post anything at all as they don't have anything to say.
2008-01-13 06:59:28
Why are you talking about all kinds of games, when it's a HUGE difference between what's common among average strategic game players and action game players?? It's like comparing apples with nails ;-)

Only people who like or dislike the game are bothered to answer the question.
What has that to do with anything?! I talked about them WRITING the questions in question ;-)
((For instance when someone recomend a team manager game, I ask about tactic possibilities and how they show the matches often even BEFORE I visit the site, because often we have to registrate to see how they have done theese main things (!) and after testing around 10 of only soccer manager games I don't want to register to anyone again, without knowing they have solved things good, because in the majority they haven't done it good enough to be worth testing...

I don´t think you should watch every month. It´s always ups and downs during small periods of time. Look Once or twice a year.
2008-01-13 20:50:30
Ok if you want, but i make my subscription on august this year, so i don't know what was the number of members at the begining of the year 2007. Can someone make a short list of the numbers of player, so i can make me an idea about this subject.
Like:
01/2004
08/2004
01/2005 ...

Thanks a lot.

PS: i have know my logo on my page, visit it, thanks.
