i personally don't get that either, maybe because of the top bar?

I must say I really liked thox's screenshot, and even thought it's easy to change colours (I assume) It does look awesome in black. However for a sokker game I believe this colour is too dark, but for another game I played years ago...well...I wish thox was around then as his design would have been unbelievable

Agree. And agree also with the opinion about Armeniaks idea. As i said the Top banner rocks. But i somehow expected that the vote is going to be like that. I didnt voted to tell the truth.

someone should work on a design where he takes ideas from all of these designs and makes it nice!

for exaplme, Thox's top frame and banner are very nice and im positive most of you would agree that its the best one, but the whole design is too dark, so we can take alexut's backround(nice and light blue) and so on....

even though one design will never satisfy everyone but out of what we have so far there can be a great design...

i just wish i knew how to do this stuff...

I want ila-a

i checked them once again and few are good. But first of all I really hope that those which won't be a winners still will be created as an css to choose (personally i would like to test and use thox which is curently not winning and the chances for that are not very huge...).
But the most important thing is that i hope that whoever wins will spend some time on tunning their skins. Ila-a or alexut (cause those two have the bigest chance for winning) imho still should put some love into their work. Alexut is with potential but as even the creator said it was done extreamly fast and was not finished. Imho before implementing it have to be tuned a bit.:)
Ila-a have really coll surrounding but the inner part (everything betwen left right and top menu) right now is a little bit empty. Some ideas and fixes there will be helpful and i will probably really like to use it...

So speaking right now to the creators of those skins please think about changes in them and some fixes to make them even better:)
cause this is to make the sokker better for everyone!:)

You are of course right.
Every submission that uses a custom/changed middle frame misses the needed details and look flat.
Current design is better than that.

Afterall the contest was about creating a new, fancy top banner and removing the top ad and move it next to the right menu. (additionally fix the left menu that does not look good in any way).
Current winner alexut did not fullfil this actually and I don't see any reason to implement this design (not that my opinion counts more than yours).
ila-a at least made something and I like that playing with green/white shadows and black in the top bar.
Thox idea is very nice, only the white fog ruins it (guess he run out of time) but the ball and the swirl look great.
Armeniaks version is nice as well.
Raskal has nice orange balls in the banner.
etc.

Are you even serious, why are misleading the voters, the developers have asked for a new layout not for a fancy banner or anything. A layout that will integrate to their requests. Even if it wasn't so and you where right Ila-a "banner" doesn't fulfill the developers requests.

Ehem, no!
Actually, noone has asked for a new layout.
It has been asked to move the ad to the right and to create a new banner, thats all.

The main goals and requirements we want from the change are:
- decreased height of top bar (with that players and logo) up to 60-90 pixels, will provide a better use of screen space for users using 1024x768 screen resolution
- changing the players on the top-right (which has received some criticism), or even changing the entire top bar to seem less childish
- remove banner from forum pages, and place it on the right of all pages like it was in the very old design, so new design would be narrowed by 120 pix
- also to remove top 468x60 banner (if you remove or not depends on your design)


It only states changes/fixes to the banner as main requirements.
Not a single word about a new layout whatsoever.
Don't worry about the voters.
They won't read that post before voting :)
