Subject: [voting] Design contest

the developers have asked for a new layout not for a fancy banner or anything.
Ehem, no!
Actually, noone has asked for a new layout.
It has been asked to move the ad to the right and to create a new banner, thats all.

The main goals and requirements we want from the change are:
- decreased height of top bar (with that players and logo) up to 60-90 pixels, will provide a better use of screen space for users using 1024x768 screen resolution
- changing the players on the top-right (which has received some criticism), or even changing the entire top bar to seem less childish
- remove banner from forum pages, and place it on the right of all pages like it was in the very old design, so new design would be narrowed by 120 pix
- also to remove top 468x60 banner (if you remove or not depends on your design)


It only states changes/fixes to the banner as main requirements.
Not a single word about a new layout whatsoever.
Don't worry about the voters.
They won't read that post before voting :)

My colours was chosen to work great with the logotype, green, orange, black, white. At least i have a concept and thinking behind my choice of colour. So if someone have good colour choice.. then is not you!

Current winner alexut did not fullfil this actually and I don't see any reason to implement this design

ila-a at least made something and I like that playing with green/white shadows and black in the top bar.

Please, its so childish of you and dont tell me that my banner is not fulfill the requests. Your banner has a function that is not even implemented!

Remember man, you started to writing about me, and i didnt even mention you or your design. I wanted to do this clean, but i suppose that u dont want that.
Do you see anywhere that i started to mention your design in negative way??

But i quess that you really want to win and got competitive. But remember mate, you have to win fair, and its not fair to start writing stuff about others design when u are in the competition.

Let one of us win this nice and clean without shitty talk.

I must be blind, but where dose it actually writen "we want a new banner". Yes they have requested as the main focus of the layout to be the top header modification, but in none of their statements you see the request of a banner. As for the design, they have actually gave us two desings (old and new) and they explicitly said what they want to keep and where we can make modifications to the layout.
And I don't want to be disrespectful but you as a moderator should really think twice before making such statements.

You must be joking! What did I do other then saying that you did not fulfill our main goals?
The reason for this contest is that we/dev/users aren't happy with the top banner because it's too big and does not look very well.
You have changed everything around it but have no top banner actually.
Don't take that too personally, please.
It's only a matter of fact.

Everything else is just a matter of taste and I did not give a personal opinion on that.
At least we can talk about that.
That's much better than a blindly voting.

the rest only bring some adjustments to the present design

Can you open the old and new jpgs witch feature the developers requirements . If they are not related to changing the layout than yes I have to be joking... and if indeed you are right and the devs asked for just a banner change i guess they should have been more specific.

You can't be more specific than that.
Devs did not ask for a banner change only, but a fix/new and better banner was THE main goal of this contest and it is clearly stated in the list of requirements :)

As you said, the layout files show that you can change other things, but the main goals are clearly stated as banner fixes.
Does not really matter now anymore anyhow...

Have you even read my posts, i was the first who has underlined the fact that the voting is not fair and i will not want for my layout to win because of that. Romanians or Obamericans we should all vote with what we feel comfortable with.

And let me say to you that right now some polish dudes are spamming the polish forums asking everyone to vote for you. Yea, we Romanians have a big community but not even once on any forum i have asked them to vote, or even vote for me. The thing that makes me angry is not related to the voting i don't even care about that.

I'm angry because i really don't like your design as it's totally unprofessional ( as all of the design are in different measures) and if anyone should win it should be armeniak, because he respected what the devs have asked for. Anyhow this vote doesn't count so much for devs. I don't protect my design, i am for fairness.

I'm sorry, I did not want to start this.

All I was trying to say is that non of the designs is at the present state any better than what we currently have and that the main goal was to make a more attractive top banner with lesser size and without ad.
It's nice to see different ideas and different tastes and I hope that we can get a nice looking Sokker based on that. :)
Look at all the sub pages and their details or just open a link in another frame (so you can see it without top banner and menus), the pages look professional and nice?

Why do you think that they are spamming in the polish forums? cause they maybe like my design. And you dont have to be angry about that, your design is not just good enough.

I have worked with webdesign more than 8 years now. If sokker had better coding system, i would make it look totaly diferrent. But there is rules to follow you know. And its unprofessional to say that others design is unprofessional.. so i have to say, not only your design is unprofessional, you are that in person too. And that is boring, cause i dont even think that you know anything about webdesign. So i will stop throwing my time to discuss this with you. My work is only professional belive me mate ;)


And if you want discuss this more, write a sk-mail to me, let us keep this thread clean from discussion please.

I did never start to talk about him or his design.. he is just angry.. give him some time!

I feel guilty though because I'm somehow the trigger of this with my clumsiness.

belive me loop, you are not guilty. from my side of view, he did trigger it when he wrote about my design yesterday.. exact date/time: 2008-11-05 23:41:19
