Subject: [DEV] Revolution in layout (GUI)

nice menu ;)

I woted YES!!

Sokker HOME page should be more NewUserFriendly because it communicates with new users. Old users don't read it. Information written there should be moved to office or club page like some kind of information.
2009-03-03 18:02:08
yep, the front page should be 1 big advert to tempt new people to click further

news, particularly about bugs, should not be there

Also, this game is too complicated for newcomers.

There should be a tutorial for first time users, like in oHTer game, where they answer few simple questions and get their initial fund of 250 000 $.

This would help them learn and help the game in not losing new users.

This game is not complicated, in fact it is very simple. If you don't "have time" to read a few newbie tipps and the manual maybe this game is wrong for you. imho tutorials are shitty.

we already talked about it in bugs/ideas and the proposal didn't pass. I think it's way boring to be forced to answer a questionnaire before starting playing and I'd quit the game if I had to.

a few days/weeks ago I proposed a flash guide with "sparkling arrows and captions" to guide new users approaching game for the first time. :)

Julius that's fantastic, I'll never stop thanking you :)

just one thing: I think it'd be better to not hide the cash page under a sub-menu, in every football game (online or not) it's always showed and ready to be clicked quickly, so a solution like Mr Vice's one would be good.
Imagine that to access cash you have to do the same path you're doing now to access junior school... way uncomfortable ;)

I also agree with that:

> Personally I'd like a bar at the bottom of the page, something like a news channel with the last league results and maybe the one of the teams we are observing (or maybe an alert when a player is put in the transfer list)

and with the plus-trial period (but a week is too much, I'd put a trial of few hours)

I think "juniors" should be grouped with "players" not with "training"

+1

I agree :)

There is too many people who do not understand this game and who spend their money doing wrong things. Someone should explain them what to do.

We have mentoring system, and results show that less than 20% people even read welcoming mail and just few reply. One new user in few months asks something in forums.

Horrifying!

"We have mentoring system, and results show that less than 20% people even read welcoming mail and just few reply. One new user in few months asks something in forums."

It's the same in germany but the problem is not that these people don't understand the game, they do not want to understand the game. they just log in once, they look at the player page, skill system, decide that sokker is a ht-clone (of course it is not... ht is cloning sokker atm, and that in a bad way :P) and leave.

but a tutorial won't change that.

same in Israel
I think that the problem here is with the long time it takes to get a team
2009-03-03 21:21:23
So, let's make it more NewUser friendly!

Also, experience shows that manager given the attention and patience learns quickly what is good to do and how to threat players/training/coaches/tactics.

We, as sokker, have to be much more welcoming to them.
2009-03-03 21:25:19
You can make that portion accessible to visitors. What I am saying is that there is definitely opportunity to make room since it was mentioned that there is a need for space.

Well, in Czech republic, quite a lot of new users read the welcoming mail. Today I got one newbie whose first question was what to do after he bought brilliant and formidable coach. Other's first thing done was to build 500 seats under roof. So many people leave due to their excessive activity. Well, I have tried to save some of them but it is quite difficult when you have -50 000 $ instead of 250 000 $.

Maybe it wouldn't be bad to make some tutorial (as was already said) with some steps. After completing each step, he would obtain some money. It would discourage him from making such a mistake.

I've written one for newbies, unfortunately it's in PL only. I have no time to translate it - scripts programming take me too much work :/
