Subject: Dream Team Web II

The biggest problem on adding more divisions is in my opinion the update time and the server load it will cause.
The server owner and the other hosted people won't be happy if a single databse uses all the resources for a few hours.
Rtg is the technical man for this and will most likely answer the questions about what is possible in the future, once he knows the setup and has it running.
We of course know that people always want more :)

Maybe reading the last couple of pages might help? :)

ok i have had numerous timeout issues to get round (shared hosting) but it looks like i have got round it now. I need to run all the updates from week 1 through to week 12 then after this is done i need to run a couple of scripts to create all the players / teams again. Hopefully we will be good to go from week 13 onwards, then we need to sit back and see if the service provider complains ;)

Once change - to update the matches played you will now need to login with your username and password. I can assure you that this is NOT stored anywhere.

still getting timeouts - it comes up as internal error - if you get any let me know what page it was you got it on.

to get over it - just refresh the page and try again. Its one of these annoying things when using a shared hosting company and im actually very surprised i have got away with what seems to be working.

Maybe some sort of config change needed?
Most likely I can't do anything about it...mysql settings I suppose.
A self-retry by the script on internal errors is not possible?
First updates are most likely a heavy load, at least I hope that this won't be a frequent problem.

nah mate you have to change server settings mainly in the php.ini file. They wont do that as it effectives the whole server. Effectively the default timeout for a script is 30 secs. They also have a mysql timeout set as well. Cant blame them really on a shared server.

I can change the php timeout value in my configs.
I thought I already changed it to the highest possible, but let me check again.

/edit
Ok, it's highest possible value already, so nothing more left I could do.

can you? thats very unusual - what is the highest value? Do you have an http timeout and mysql timeout as well?
2009-07-28 20:56:52
Nope, only maximum execution time for php.
Can only change it from 30 to 38.
2009-07-28 20:58:31
