ferdam said something about new ddos attacks, like we had some time ago. That's all information we staff members have so far, sorry.
Sorry for my english. Official explanation from polish staff:
There are DDoS attacks on SK server. Therefore the staff recommend to placing a player up for sale with the starting price at this moment.
The staff is working on a device for an automatic change time of end of transfer if the sever wouldn't work.

we? are you involved?
cheers for the explanation anyway..
EDIT: @loop, thats what google did to stop what it assumed as an attack on its server when the michael jackson thing happened.. (millions of people all at once wanted to confirm he's dead so googled his name)
what a ddos does, is just request info off the server continuously from thousands of computers or whatever at once (basically when computers have bad viruses they can be made to do this) ..so it overloads the server meaning everyone else cant get pages etc...
what that capta thing does, is just makes you type the charachters before you can get the info... dont know if it just limits bandwith, or if it would help if there is a massive attack on the server though :/
putting back deadlines definately needed, still wont stop downtimes..although i guess if deadlines are extended, then there is nothing to be gained from an attack on the server really so maybe those doing it will cease
correct me if im wrong,

Administrators will not generally perform the following actions, but reserve the right in extreme cases:
- to interfere in cases of not bidding a certain players on agreed price - [normally] those are the matters of the mutual agreements between the seller and the buyer and are not supervised by Sokker staff
Maybe in extreme cases, this rule can help someone.

bringing that up will cause a lot of work for admins im guessing.. id say where people lost..say a few mill then i will agree it may be needed :)
iv seen complaints about 100-150k players from new teams selling for 10k... whereas players underselling by a few million i would say yeah..talk to an admin

thanks, didn't notice that before. I agree, that could be used to remove a player after Deadline from TL, if both, seller and buyer, ask for it. But afaik the admins didn't use to do that during first attacks last year.

This fields help in cases like michael jackson, but not against ddos.
Ddos attacks send many page requests per seconds in this case.
They could query the public forum, just the front page or any other open service on the server to cause troubles.
Even if you would put this box !before! every Sokker page, sending back and calculating that number thingy would even more overload it because the reply is in some cases already bigger than what you get from a normal sokker page.
