Subject: Any official explanation about downtimes ?

2009-06-30 11:30:27
why does google implement it so? or should i ask them :P

i guess this topic has its answer anyway though...

ddos attack..

and the deadline exension part of the game is being worked on.

thats all we need to know :)

Because google is not under ddos attack :)
The result of what they see is the same that happens under ddos attack, but the prevention is completely different....

mauser to lelive

Rules
2. Sokker rules
Administrators will not generally perform the following actions, but reserve the right in extreme cases:
- to interfere in cases of not bidding a certain players on agreed price - [normally] those are the matters of the mutual agreements between the seller and the buyer and are not supervised by Sokker staff

thanks, didn't notice that before. I agree, that could be used to remove a player after Deadline from TL, if both, seller and buyer, ask for it. But afaik the admins didn't use to do that during first attacks last year.

Buyer should report the fact of underpaid transfer to the admins:

2. Sokker Rules
GENERAL SOKKER RULES
As an user you are obligated to obey the following major rules. In the game it is forbidden:
- to use any encountered errors in Sokker to one's own needs (every traced bug should be reported to the admins)

The problem is it's neither a Sokker error nor a bug, it's an attack from outside Sokker.
2009-06-30 12:34:46
Let me not to agree with you:) The downtimes are errors in Sokker.
(edited)

But the errors aren't caused by Sokker but by the attacks from outside.
2009-06-30 13:15:38
That doesn't mean the developers shouldn't do everything in their power to prevent the effects of it.
2009-06-30 13:19:48
And admins shoudn't help the suffered users...
2009-06-30 13:20:10
They do whatever they can, believe me!
They're the ones who suffer the most from these attacks.
2009-06-30 13:49:35
It would just be nice to hear from themselves what exactly they're doing. Beeing silent about it all just creates anxiety.
2009-06-30 14:01:39
Well we should've already got used to it after all these years, right? It's amateurish, like most things on sokker.
2009-06-30 14:12:20
maybe its a secret weapon of mass destruction against all those DDos attacks from spambots which makes those pcs blow up? :p
2009-06-30 14:20:39
ok so the SK server is being DDOS (ditributed denial of service) attack.

first thing - my thoughts - "total nonsense".

On looking at where the SK server (s) are held they are held within a domain atman.pl who are a consultancy firm dabling in the internet (cheap no doubt).

The domain atman has 3 (THREE) nameservers associated with it - potential issue there.

The speed of the connected is known as "COMP" which for the life of me i have no idea what it means.

In all - "the skserver is being DDOS" YAWN!! Dont bore me
2009-06-30 14:30:40
rotfl. Look - there are no problems when the games are generated and the most users are on line. So it's not a problem with servers being too weak.
2009-06-30 14:47:16
They do whatever they can, believe me!

Yep, the main question about this downtime, according to all the users that wrote me, is:

"OK, you can't avoid downs, but why you didn't postphone the auction deadlines?"

That's the point.

Someone said earlier that devs are working on a system that does it automatically.
Currently they need to do it by hand, if they are sleeping or just not there, they can't do it.
